  • Remedy for a scorcher of a day

Just made up some delicious cold coffee.

First the coffee was ground -Zimbabwe Pezuru Estate laced with some Sumatran Blue Lintong; pulled 60ml espresso; poured a cup or so of milk into a blender with a large scoop of creamy ice-cream +/- sugar to taste; added the espresso and buzzed for about 30 seconds. Poured into a glass that had been iced up in the freezer well beforehand; added another scoop of icecream. Delicious.

Maybe this is one reason why Ive put on 1 or 2 kg in this heat wave Right now its 43.6C in the shade outside so far (on my weather station), and the hot northerly wind has just arrived - gusting every which way. It will probably get to be hotter this afternoon like its been for the past couple of weeks. Excellent excuse for some scrumptious iced coffee. (Thankfully no fires here.)

I like the Campos Sparkling Long Black!

I make at home also, and usually have it in a piccolo size, 2/3 full with icy sparkling mineral water (splitrock or mt franklin etc - nothing too "minerally" tasting or too "fizzy"). Top with a double ristretto. Its very, very refreshing. The bubbles hold the crema right up so it looks like the head of a guinness!

It does seem to be an aquired taste though - not many people I know actually like it!

Ive got a glass in the freezer to try it really really cold later!

I wonder where they got that idea from?

My wife ordered a cold long black quite some time back.
There was nothing like it on the menu at the time and they made up something on the spot.
        It wasnt sparkling back then.

Seabreeze kicked in a while back 22 down from over 40+, best brew for this weather BEER ;D

Or simple iced coffee double shot of whatever is in the grinder pour it over (hot) some small spoons of ice cream then top up with milk. Hot shopt melts the ice cream a little for a bit of sweetness.

But beer is better Coopers Pale 3 going down and about to pull the roaster outside and do a few loads 8-)

I have recently converted to placing a small amount of milk (30ml?) in a glass full of ice and pouring a double shot over the top. I find it makes for a really refreshing cool drink. Starts strong, but ends weaker.
