  • the coffee making process

    hey guys.
so im still waiting for my order of em6910 and em0480...im dieing for it bcoz my beans have been delivered and ive been sniffing them every 5mins...i cant help it  :-/

Meanwhile ive been doing more reading here, and watching some vids on youtube.

Heres what i understand of the process of making the coffee (say the cappucinno) plz excuse my limited knowledge on the right terms:
1.water down PF, wond, and the short wond

    2. fill up a cup with through the PF with water, then put it on top of machine to heat

    3. grind beans; put 1 spoon of beans for 1 shot in grinder (im guessing this)

    4. clean and wipe dry PF then put grinded coffee in basket

    5. tamp lightly to level, then top up again and tamp more thoroughly and knock the sides (heard theres no need for this, not sure if thats true), tamp again and polish off.

    6. Put PF in place ready for the shot (but dont start it yet)

    7. Get the jug out of freezer and fill up with milk (dont know how much).

    8. Start the foaming process, apply the 3sec rule (got that from here)
but im not sure as to the positioning of the wond in the jug (ive seen sum have it on the edge, and sum in the middle)

    9. after foam is done, pull your espresso shot, whilst rotating and tapping down your jug to get rid big bubbles.

    10. pour foamed milk into the espresso nice and slow (at cafe ive noticed they hold top layer of the foam with a teaspoon...i dont know wat thats for).

Anyway so thats what ive learnt so far...
i know theres probably a million things ive said thats wrong, which is why ive made this post.

im ready for the drilling of a lifetime so please dont hold back  8-)

In principle... You have it sudses...

The process and intent is clearly there .... :-X

The reality is that there are about 10 or 20 other little requirements that you will need to tweak and play with to get it right and to be consistent..

Oh... That is 20 per line item that you have listed... And you have not even started on teh Grind and beans yet

No.... As a start, you have identified most of the key points... From here it is a journey of discovery....

yeh. as soon as i get my machine, im gona book myself and my wife in that sunbeam coarse thyre offering. i figure why not, its free and surely youre gona learn the basics at the bare minimum.

from my knowledge so far, those 20 tweaks and adjustments per line will build through time according to my taste and and more importantly "experience in taste"
