Inspired my Michelles words re: esmeralda, Whats the best coffee you have had this year so far??

Ill get the ball rolling:

CAFE COFFEE

Flat White - Liar Liar, 3 bean blend of Nolans
Short Black - Padres East Brunswick, Daddys Girl ?
Clover - BBB, Guatemalan "el Bosque"

AT HOME

Flat White - Client Blend (a bag full of leftovers)
Short Black - WOW
Pour Over - Bin 35

Its almost appalling how much awesome coffee Ive had this year actually ...

Um ... I have had all sorts of great coffees, but the brewed coffee is sticking out in my memory ...

Jan 2 Esmeralda at Dans place is my all time greatest. Seriously. Synaesthetic experience.

Hazels Ethiopian Idido Misty Valley (as brewed by Adam, the pour-over King) was pretty fantastic. Actually the IMV at WHC was sensational as well.

Without a doubt it would be the pre-roast blend Im currently drinking which is a combination of:

• Nicaraguan Angelina Estate
• Hawaiian Koa Coffee Plantation Kona
• Hawaiian Koa Coffee Plantation Ka`u Gold
• Puerto Rican Mi Cafe Grano de Altura Yauco Seleccion Catador
• Puerto Rican Cibales Yauco
• Guatemalan Antigua San Sebastian
• Guatemalan Antigua Puerta Verde

Even though its only 2 days post-roast it is far and away the best coffee Ive ever had! So good in fact that if I dont force myself to start drinking the SO roasts of the same beans the ~700g (roasted weight) of the blend will not last another 24 hours!

Have tried over 20 different types since getting into it in November last year. Got to try Kopi Luwak, and have tried from a few different roasters. Quite liked the Guatemala one I got from from The Coffee Barun a while back, but I just cant go past a double ristretto latte using Ethiopian Harrar Longberry. And I have been really impressed by the Mocha Java decaf that its sitting in number 2 spot at the moment, with Yemen Bani Ismail in 3rd. As far as the coffee from the aeropress, the Kopi Luwak was excellent and would be my number 1 for that style. Oh, and Ive also figured out that I dont really like blends for some reason...

Forgot to add cafe coffee. Favourite was actually made by Laurent Saint Boulangerie in Melbourne. Im sure others would find it nothing special, but they make it the way I like it. Nice atmosphere helps too ;D

Plenty of great coffee so far this year.
The best Cafe coffee Its a toss up between whatever BBB were using on the 25/3 and Blue Batak from the auction room on the 24/3, that being said I dont get out to, too many cafes.

At home, espresso machine would be  png wahgi, yemen bani ismaili would get the vote but it was left over from last year.

Syphon would be esmeralda.

Best at home coffee for me was probably a flat white made with the Sumatra Blue Lintong beans.  Mmmm.

Cant really pick just one cafe coffee as best, since I have different types of coffees at different places.  Best ristretto was at Epic Espresso (and I always enjoy their flat whites).  Have had numerous excellent long blacks from Ristretto in the CBD as well.
