Hi Csers!
Those of you whod attended last years Aroma Festival, could tell how busy the Rocks area was! According to the Sydney Harbor Foreshore Authority, It has attracted a crowd of 117, 000 people and has outgrown its current footprint. To allow better flow of visitors and and avoid bottle-neck points at the coffee stalls area, the authorities have restructured the event this year, as described by the event coordinator:
· Extend the footprint of the event to include Jack Mundey Place, Hickson Rd. Reserve, Nurses Walk, and the boardwalk in front of the Hyatt Hotel.
· Style the event around themed regions of the world.
· Reposition and reduce the size of stages as well as eliminate the previous stage in the middle of George St.
· Position café tables and chairs around stages in each region to create a wonderful outdoor café style area to not only drink coffee, but enjoy the themed entertainment.
In 2009, a new creative direction for Aroma will bring all the elements of the event – the coffee, the new exhibitors, the entertainment and The Rocks ambiance – together to provide a fully integrated experience of the wonderful culture of coffee, chocolate, tea, spices and all things nice. The creative themes of Aroma will be developed to explore the coffee growing regions of the world:
The Continent
· OPT Forecourt , George St, The Rocks Square
· European style, piano accordions, piazzas and pizzazz
The Latin Quarter
· First Fleet Park
· South American flair, colour and life and the entrance to Aroma.
The Orient
· Campbells Cove
· spice.
The Oasis
· Hickson Rd. Reserve
· Date palms, Turkish coffee, belly dancing and camels!
At the Domestic Coffee Machine Expo in the Overseas Passenger Terminal there will be the addition of a new theatrette for talks, demonstrations and tips from the coffee experts.
