    Re: Vittoria Special Bar

If the package comes with a roast date on it and it is in the past week, its probably worth a try. But chances are that if the coffee is fresh, the bulk of the 3kg will go stale before you have time to use it.

If price is your sole concern, note that you could buy green coffee from this site for around $8/kg, pick up a heat gun for $25 and roast exactly what you want yourself. Im not sure which city youre in, but there are heaps of small roasters around that sell fantastic quality stuff that you can be assured is fresh for quite competetive prices; usually far less than at the supermarket, and often around the price you stated.

A good course of action might be to split a bag with your mate. Give it a go and see what you think. If you like it, good for you. If you think its crap and/or stale, you wont have another 2.9kg to plow through ;P

    Cheers,

    Luca

The reason i asked was because a mate told me that he can get Vittoria at around $26/kg - this coffee is not the supermarket variety - it comes in a bag of 3kg - and he reckon its the best he came across, although i dont know what sort of brewing equipment that hes using though - may be ill give it a go...

I do like the new Vittoria ad in print media with Neil Perry chasing a duck. Makes him look like such a goose.

Maybe Vittoria coffee is the reason Rockpool lost a hat in the first place.

I nearly bought some Vittoria just so I could enter that same competition
It was a Faema of some sort wasnt it...?

Back on topic umm no. Mainly due to freshness issues.

No, but I would presume that it will be stale. I bought about five bags of various Vittoria blends a while back when they had a competition to win a seriously cool coffee machine. Each bag was undrinkably stale. We ended up using them for latte art training.
