Di Bella green beans

i have been reading alot about roasting my own here on CS.
I found our popcorn machine last night and today it had a chimney attached to it , and all i needed now was some sacrificial green beans for my first attempt.
After reading a thread last night about green beans in Brisbane and that Di Bella sold them and would have a good discount for CS members.
I went down there about half an hr ago, i was served by Jon, he was really really friendly & helpful, i mentioned i was a CS member and i got 50% off the board price for a KG of green beans ,i bought 2 kg of beans, 1 kg PNG, 1 kg Sumatran Indo . He was genuinely interested in what i was doing and asked me to let him know how i went with roasting my own in my popper. I can`t explain how helpful and friendly these guys are. I had my 4yo daughter with me, they gave her a little biscuit and were really nice in interacting with her.
I even got a coffee as well while i was waiting for my beans.
If you live in Brisbane and haven`t been there ( i doubt it) go down to Bowen Hills and have a coffee or a talk  or get some beans. Fantastic place. I just had to share my experience with you all.

One question

Was there a selection of beans from all continents to choose from?
or was the selection limited to just a few ?

I have been to Di Bella many times and didnt know they sell green beans too! Guess I am always too busy drooling over the brown beans But I agree - they have the best customer service.

Will have to ask when im in there tomorrow - thanks for the tip Jordan!  

Good luck with the roasting - I started only a couple of months ago with the same setup and it was easier than I thought! Havent had a bad roast yet.

Thanks guys.
They only have single origin beans in green, about 5 or 6 , i can`t recall the others, i think there was a Kenyan on the list, sorry KK, it was all a bit of a blur and i had to stop the little one from running about all over the place.

On my recent trip to Melbourne I called in at Di Bella in North Melb. and they gave me a tour of their roastery, when I told them I home roasted they gave me a 1kg bag of green beans to take home and roast, I thought that was a fantastic gesture, I roasted the Ethiopians last week and they are waiting to be consumed. It was a totally pleasant experience from obviously passionate coffee people, thanks guys!!

Hi all, my first post, i would have to agree with Lozzo, the guys at Di Bella are fantastic. I went to both Merlo outlets yesterday in search of green beans but the young girls working there just gave me a funny look and said they only sold green beans in 10kg bags or something.

At Di Bella, had a chat to a guy there who had done a bit of popcorn roasting himself and he gave me some great tips and set me up with a nice bag of PNG beans and a coffee.

Will be going back there soon for sure! Did my first roast last night which looks great... waiting a few days of rest before the first grind.

Agree with all the previous comments on Di Bellas at Bowen Hills.  I have found them to be unfailingly friendly and helpful and very committed to building a friendship with coffee lovers.  Together with the other sponsors on this site they continue to take Andys approach and build an enjoyable coffee community (not just a group of people who focus relentlessly on their obsession :)
