Re: Unauthorised use of your espresso machine.

    Ha Thanks for understanding KK,
Although my poor English is not my point of post tho.
And I dont know Mandarin (chinese) sentence structure can be similar to European (Greek)?
I always found I use chinese way to build up my English and its difficult to be understood by English speaker.. (too many point in one sentence)...

Steve I think the correct punishment should be, take him to the local shopping centre, the bigger, the better and make him clean every espresso machine in the place.
This should teach him to leave your machine alone next time.

I am worried I may have same problem sooner or later.
Now my wife and I share our unit with another couple students to save some money since I am studying.
Hi Colin - this is a very tough situation.  I think the best thing to do is to be upfront with them and ask them not to use your espresso machine right from the start.  Ive lived in many student share houses over the years - at least one of which deteriorated to communication only though yellow sticky postit notes left on dirty kitchen appliances/cutlery/toilets/piles of clothing etc.  Ive also seen unspeakable things done to knives, stoves, pans etc..  I once found my ceramic mixing bowl left in the bathroom cupboard...I didnt ask...but threw out the bowl regardless...   Dont take the chance!  If all else fails you could warn them of the machines undiagnosed and erratic tendency to propel hot coffee grounds over unsuspecting users... Good luck with it

A horrible, horrible experience, Steve. I hope youve recovered from the violation.

Re: Unauthorised use of your espresso machine.

I am sorry, I must not have the snobby-precious gene,

If my brother and Law made a complete hash of making coffee using MY! bezzera it probably wouldnt bother me too much.....  On the condition he showed and active interest and was prepared to take the time to learn how to do it properly and learn how clean the machine the next time. (thats a big condition).

I figure if give a man a fish you feed him for a day, if you teach a man to fish well... maybe he may just end up getting a decent machine, roaster and grinder so when you go to his house you wont have to drink superautomatico supermarket bean rubbish.

Now.. if he messed with the grinder settings.... a thousand papers cuts would not be justice.

              ;D ;D ;D
My coffee corner is my kingdom and the only intrustion allowed is if family members turn Maria on as a hint that they would like a coffee soon!!
Touching another mans caffeine extracting equipment is sacrilege and no punishment would be too extreme!!! > > >

I have a few shiny new toys arriving for home use in the next week or so and the only person other that would be allowed to do that is Chris - but he needs to come up from Melbourne to do so.

Do you think Id be just a tad too extreme if were to employ a security guard 24/7? ;D

Er, yes, I gathered that, Den. :-[ I only offered to make my own purely out of consideration to you, being as tied up as you were, you know. Never hurts a snob to ask.

I like the thousand paper cuts suggestion, Dazza (as a start!).

Hmm...sounds interesting. Would said shiny toys be displayed in Cuppacoffee at some stage*? Not something VBMish perhaps, or dare I suggest an item not too dissimilar to a GS/3.

[edit]* OK, OK - you did say for home use[/edit]

Though my ESP suggests that Dudley may soon have a friend (or colleague)

ROFL - Dudley has a new friend that arrived yesterday - the Tostatutto! I think Dudley has been sniggering ever since it arrived.

OK, well I was on the radar with Dudleys new friend but my chronometer was a bit slow.

So Im guessing some new kit. I did spy with my little eye something starting with v on your laptop screen last Thursday. Hmmmm...Im guessing it must be special if it needs to be Chrisened (like that? . Sue is very privileged.

                        Keep us posted.

                          No...

But then, there has been the occasional veiled threat whilst pointing to a small collection of the wrong end of a pineapple. Seems to have had the desired outcome ;D ;D

                          Mal.

                              what he said.

seriously, I encourage people to learn to use my HX machines. worst they can do is make pretty bad coffee. if they were silvias, id be a bit more careful!

if they put decaf through my grinder without asking though, Ill have their nuts/bits lightly roasted and served to the cat on a platter.

Its a good thing that a shot of steam scares away cats and small children... Both are too inquisitive for their own good.

Back to the OP, even though my brother and I are both self-confessed snobs, and equally proficient at using our own machines - When I am at his house, the most I can do is steam my own milk
