Gday everyone. Im a new Bloke to your forum and got to say that it was a bonus to find it. Actually the bloke who sold me my first machine a couple of weeks ago , put me onto it. In a short half hour this fella [Glenn from Thoms Retravision in Armidale NSW] took me forward about 400 percent in my appreciation of coffee. For a few years now I thought that I was a bit of a coffee buff; however it was in that half hour while sampling the coffee that Glenn made me in store that I suddenly realized that the appreciation of coffee is the same deal as the appreciation of fine wine.
For forty years or more I had my head in the sand. I consider myself a fairdinkum Aussie and one of the last of the true Bushmen, we drink TEA - preferably Billy tea. "That coffee stuff is a Yanke drink; all you blokes are becoming far too Yankeeized" was how I looked at it.
Then one day the penny dropped and I realized that tea was only some watery drink that the Pommies stole from some fellas over in India or somewhere. Ive been enjoying coffee ever since. What a waste of forty odd years eh!?
Ivbe had a few stove top machines for a few years but have started to climb the ladder at last. My first machine is a Sunbeam 4800C and even though on a pretty steep learning curve I can now really enjoy an awsome coffee most times I feel like one.
I would like to know a bit more about non-pressurized basket for my machine that I saw in another post. Whats that all about Folk??
Sorry to be so long winded. Rodda.
