Re: Allergic to hot water?
Id have a crack at the theory that the hot water is carrying an excess of certain minerals stripped from piping only through hot water and that your filtration system is lacking!
All in theory of course, otherwise it could be a meteor has landed somewhere near your towns waters supply and has infected dam, only a matter of time before you turn into an alien. :P

Re: Allergic to hot water?
I love them to bits, but going to three was a whole new world of hurt, and almost did me in!Originally posted by 535D505F485E5F310 link=1251068083/10#10 date=1251259875They need to list that as a medical condition I only have two and am feeling the strain.
But I wouldnt have it any other way. Kids really are a blessing (though sometimes under a deep disguise ;D )
Enjoy them before they start borrowing the car! (or using the coffee machine for scrambled eggs :-X )

Re: Allergic to hot water?
Yeah I need to add this to the list of symptoms caused by nearing 35 with 3 small children - Im falling apart at the seams!Originally posted by 6A646966716766080 link=1251068083/3#3 date=1251087531The heat might be reacting with your system to cause the issue, have you spoken to a doctor? Sounds strange I would get it checked out!
Thanks all for your feedback - but sounds like Im alone on the hot water thing!
PS Just started on a batch of Espresso WOW! - good as the write ups! (just not in long blacks ;D)

No no no... It has to be a tummy twisting effect of the espresso unbuffered by the stomach lining coating/absorbtion retardation of the milk. I hope that no doctors read this, they may need something stronger than coffee to cope!

......or perhaps its a case ofOriginally posted by 0438253E343522373F34500 link=1251068083/5#5 date=1251089764Then see a doctor.
Patient: Doc, it hurts when I do this
Doctor: Then dont do that.
Possibly is some chemical reaction from using kettle-boiled town water that your system doesnt like </uninformed speculation>.
What if you made the long black using water from the hot water tap on your Regal instead??

Re: Allergic to hot water?
id try and drink the equivelant amount of hot water, to see if it is in fact the temp that gets to ya, ruling out H2O and coffee

No, just really good town water. And I can down litres of cold - just seems to be the hot water in coffee and tea!Originally posted by 272C273F34297371460 link=1251068083/1#1 date=1251085941Are you on town water or tank water?
Weird......

Are you on town water or tank water? Might be a reaction to an excess of certain minerals in your water. Just a guess.

Allergic to hot water?
Hi all
A quirky thing to ask, however.....
Drinking great double espressos or lattes couple of times a day over the last 6 months since we got the new machine. Weve had some regular guests who have been asking for long blacks, which Ive been providing on spec (double shot over fresh boiled water) but thought Id try one myself, just to see what they were like, having never tried them before (and I cant really serve what I wouldnt drink!).
Quite liked the aroma and flavour, but 15 minutes later felt crook as a dog! :-X
I used to have a similar reaction to plunger coffee and black tea. The variable here seems to be a greater proportion of hot water - any one had a similar reaction or heard of a hot water allergy? ;D
Not a real issue - just more espressos, I suppose, but interested no-the-less!
