  • Any discounted Sunbeam Grinders?

As usual, I leave everything till the last minute.   My son’s birthday is on Friday.  I ordered him an Aeropress, (party because I thought it would be the ideal thing for him and partly because I want to try it) which probably won’t arrive by then, and after asking him some leading questions (will you be likely to want a proper coffee machine in the near future? – come to think of it, he probably thinks that’s what I’m getting him ;D) Decided to buy him the Sunbeam EM0480.  So, I started phoning around.  The Good Guys at Brighton are sold out, waiting on an order.  Can’t give me a price until they arrive.  Moorabbin insists that no such model number Sunbeam exists – the dearest grinder they  stock is the Gaggia for around $150)  I definitely won’t be shopping at Moorabbin, had me holding on for 20 minutes, then when I asked her to wait one second while I double check the model number on my computer, she told me that she was busy.  None the less, she insisted that I’m  wrong, she was looking in the Sunbeam book, no such model exists.   :

Both Myer Southland and Chadstone has them in stock, $199 cash or credit.  Told them that I have seen them cheaper.  Well, she said, if you tell us where AND they have it in stock, we will match it, but not if it’s out of stock.

So, does any Melbourne member know of a place at a cheaper price?  I suppose I could wait for the Good Guys to get their order, my son is no longer 6, he can wait a bit for his present,  ;D but it would be nice if I could find one before Friday.  It is against my principles to pay full RRP  ;D

I cant help you with a place that has stock (Sorry). Im looking too, but Im in no hurry so I can afford to wait for stocks to replenish and then chase a good price.

But perhaps the lady from Good Guys Moorabbin could have put the book down and wandered over to the coffee appliance area and she would have SEEN the Sunbeam EM0480 at the end of the grinder display. I know this because I was in there last Wed playing with it and checking it out. It was sitting next to the one I currently have (Delonghi KG100, aka: Solis 166) and of course now I REALLY want one but that was the only one they had (the display).

Forgot to add they had it for $199 sticker price, so they probably do $185-$190 for cash based on their normal discounts. But if they havent got any then Im not really ANY help to you at all :-? (sorry)

When you find one, let me know please.  I will do the same if I find one first.  ;D

Typical!  I have a good mind to drive over there (a bit too far, just for spite  ;D) and rub her nose in it  :

The two hundred buckeroonies is a bargain anyway! Why not just be happy that you got a very good grinder at a great price? This time last year it was a lux at $250....so you just saved 50 bucks

Guys - see my post on the Sunbeam EM0480 in the Hardware for Sale sec. Anyway, DJs in Sth Land have them for $184 and Retravision in Mentone next to Bunnings have them - listed at $199, but can do for $175 if you ask nicely.
          Good luck!
