As usual, I leave everything till the last minute.
My son’s birthday is on Friday. I ordered him an Aeropress, (party because I thought it would be the ideal thing for him and partly because I want to try it) which probably won’t arrive by then, and after asking him some leading questions (will you be likely to want a proper coffee machine in the near future? – come to think of it, he probably thinks that’s what I’m getting him ;D) Decided to buy him the Sunbeam EM0480. So, I started phoning around. The Good Guys at Brighton are sold out, waiting on an order. Can’t give me a price until they arrive. Moorabbin insists that no such model number Sunbeam exists – the dearest grinder they stock is the Gaggia for around $150) I definitely won’t be shopping at Moorabbin, had me holding on for 20 minutes, then when I asked her to wait one second while I double check the model number on my computer, she told me that she was busy. None the less, she insisted that I’m wrong, she was looking in the Sunbeam book, no such model exists. :
Both Myer Southland and Chadstone has them in stock, $199 cash or credit. Told them that I have seen them cheaper. Well, she said, if you tell us where AND they have it in stock, we will match it, but not if it’s out of stock.
So, does any Melbourne member know of a place at a cheaper price? I suppose I could wait for the Good Guys to get their order, my son is no longer 6, he can wait a bit for his present, ;D but it would be nice if I could find one before Friday. It is against my principles to pay full RRP ;D
