  • Accurate scales for measuring coffee weight

    Hi guys,

can someone recommend a good brand of electric scales for accurate measurement of ground coffee. being lightweight and portable are criteria i desire, in addition to accurately measuring the weight of a group handle with coffee in the basket.

    cheers

    Hmmm,

IMO the scales that are small enough to be portable and measure in 1/10th gm increments are often too small to easily balance a group handle.

This is why I measure or weigh my beans and then throw them into the grinder basket load by basket load.

I got my little scales from Deal Extreme, IIRC they were about $12 including postage.

When Im weighing shots with my small increment scales, I usually take the spring out of the group handle so I can remove the basket once tamped.

      1. Tar the scales with the filter basket
      2. grind, dose, tamp
      3. weigh filter basket
      4. insert basket back in to group handle and pull awesome shots

I just got a cheapy set off ebay. $15 or so shipped from HK.
