Re: Am I a coffee snob?
What Andy said!
Change will only happen from within in most cases.
I have just volunteered myself and my setup for coffee making duties for the church Christmas lunch.
It might turn on some lights, it might not, but I think the only hope for change in this area is to give an example (hopefully) of how decent the real thing can be.
Now I just need to figure out the logistics of moving my setup safely and deciding how much of my stash I should roast for the day.
And water supply, and where I should setup, and how to keep others off the machine, and access to the sink, and access to the fridge, and should we get take-away cups for the day, and what do I do if someone asks for soy, and do I take the good chocolate with me, and a bunch of other stuff that has raced through my head since I made the offer. Whee!
Brett.

Re: Am I a coffee snob?
So next year get together with a couple of local CSrs and do a better job! You might even find that a site sponsor could lend a machine for the day to use or just take some domestic gear to show what is possible at home.Originally posted by 427265776D616E000 link=1257555766/0#0 date=1257555766Our local school had a fete

We are all CoffeeSnobs one way or another and all have our limits as to what can be called coffee and to quickly identify some brown stuff that sorta looked like coffee.Originally posted by 427265776D616E000 link=1257555766/0#0 date=1257555766Am I close to a coffee snob yet?
Having an open mind and trying it is fine, just dont take too big a gulp... and have plan B close at hand. (ie: a good brand of varnish remover to wash it down)

Am I a coffee snob?
I think I may be ready to sit for my coffee snob certificate. Our local school had a fete today. I was all excited because they had organised a "professional" coffee maker. It turns out it was a Saeco fully automatic machine with what Im guessing was pre-ground beans
I approached it with open mind, perhaps fully automatics are clever and can adjust for various parameters. Unfortunately I couldnt drink it, it tasted like someone had dropped some varnish remover in it :-?
