Re: Hamilton Good Food Week - Sunday 15th Nov.
Congrats tweeek, pleasure to tech judge you on the day. Great day, awesome organisation, a shout out to the Newie crew getting that sussed. I thought I had the judges sheets sitting next to me here, but Ill get Sax to get them out to everyone.
Again, and qs shoot us an email Seamus.
Congrats to all the other competitors too, and definitely hope to see you all there next year. Its a great base to start a epic coffee standards hitting the Newcastle region. Probably the most organised regional comp Ive even attended.

Re: Hamilton Good Food Week - Sunday 15th Nov.
Thanks coffeehorse and thanks to all the judges and the organisers. I got some very helpful feedback and I had a lot of fun and look forward to competing again, hopefully having incorporated some of the feedback. I would certainly encourage anyone who is thinking about it to have a dig next year.
I havent seen the judging sheets yet but thanks very much for the offer and if I have any questions once I have, I will get in touch.
Thanks again to everyone.
Seamus

Re: Hamilton Good Food Week - Sunday 15th Nov.
congrats Tweeek first of all - all the judges were in agreement that the best person on the day won! if you want more debrief than you got, feel free to PM me (think youve got my sheets anyhow).
as the inaugural comp, there were some mistakes which more seasoned (salt? pepper?) competitors wouldve avoided (most people hadnt brought the right size cups, few people preheated them on the machine, and only Seamus purged his grinder (inc. throat) between shots, but even those who didnt score well had a heap of potential.
unfortunately due to judging commitments the only people I got to talk to were Yeeza, Framey and tyeoman, but it was really good to see you all there. congrats framey - I enjoyed the shots I had of your coffee.
There were actually 3 dudes from Eurobar, but IIRC Emma was the last competitor and had only registered 10 mins before - so we were all very impressed by how well she scored considering!
The event organisers also werent rubbish, wanted feedback (which we gave) and wanted to make the event get bigger and better each year.
So Ill see you next year...!

Hey...how were the Goths singing classics like Footloose and Meatloafs Anything But That!? ;D They really had some great singers but it was like watching some sort of a freak show at the same time! ;D

Re: Hamilton Good Food Week - Sunday 15th Nov.
Hey guys, I must have missed all of you! I arrived just as the dude from Eurobar was finishing, went down to rolladoor to get an ice coffee while the next person was setting up.
Seemed to make it back just in time for Emma from a place called sniddys. Ive actually eaten there (they specialise in schnitzel... mm) but didnt have a coffee cause i figured there was no way a snitchel hut would have good coffee. Well heres the girl competing! She got a bit flustered, and I felt bad for her. Def. not ideal conditions.
Then I wandered about for a bit, came back just in time for some dude from IIIbean, who was all on that sh*t. Just seemed to handle it a bit better.
Then the theatre restaurant seemed to be doing some "comedy" sketch about not being able to make coffee and I decided to head on for the day (had some birthday shopping to do for the boy while I had an arvo off).
So I guess they came back with more competitors after that? Good to here it was a snob triumph! Well done Tweeek.
Sad I missed you guys but I will be back next year - def. thinkin about competing now! Looked like lots of fun!

Re: Hamilton Good Food Week - Sunday 15th Nov.
Hi guys...finally home and back on line here...phew what a trip! Had car trouble thrown in with the mix but we made it home safe.
I was there in time to see the 3rd competitor for the day, say a quick gday to Yeeza (sorry that I didnt get to see you again!), grab a coffee from Eurobar and then we had to really get motoring as wed not got out of Sydney as early as I would have liked. And as it was, we were held up not an hour up the road as the car failed to proceed...
Great news on the winner for the day! Yes, I thought that the conditions were pretty ordinary for the competitors. Felt for the girl competitor we watched as whilst her shot was pouring for one set of her drinks and she was busy preping for something else, the darn wind was actually blowing the shots out of the cups! Anyway, I guess its all part of the competition but really, I thought that a little more thought could have gone into placement of the coffee machines too. (It did seem like a tough venue being out in the middle of the street!)
Does anyone know how many competitors there were all up?

Ah well... I think I got there a bit late to see Scoots and I dont think I saw anybody holding a teacup.
It was 1pm by the time I got there, I must have walked past the workstations twice before I worked out where it was - their lunch break :
Saw the guy from Eurobar compete - not ideal conditions, it looked hot and breezy out there in the middle of the road. Waiting for the next competitor and a Brazilian/Congo band started up a few meters away so things appeared to be put on hold. Came back half an hour later and they were still banging away, the barista and judges were still sitting there waiting - I gave up

Re: Hamilton Good Food Week - Sunday 15th Nov.
Hey Mel, you calling Scoots a bike???
She can be a nasty wench if shes riled up!
;D ;D ;D
Reminds me about a story about when I met Pete - hed just moved to Townsville and also bought a car. So one of his workmates reckoned hed got a new home, a new car and a new bike all in the same week. Just quietly, he couldnt sit down for a week!
Man, I wish I could be there for this - my dance rehearsal doesnt start until 2.30pm at Broadmeadow, but I think Id freak the crowds out if I turned up with ultra red lips, two tons of spac filla on my face, fishnet stockings and in one of my costumes! Actually, come to think of it, theyll just think Ive migrated from Islington!
Have a great time and may the best Baristress win!
