Looks like you had a great time. You managed to fit in visits to Cup Specialty Coffee and Veneziano in Brisbane too. Good choices.

Even if you set aside the incredible latte art the coffee itself looks amazing.

The venue where the comp was held has no shortage of flexible stadium seating, just not in the part where the food show was held.Originally posted by 1428352E242532272F24400 link=1262094027/113#113 date=1265712459Exactly what was set up outside Edinburgh Castle when we there back in 2006.Originally posted by 14393D313C500 link=1262094027/112#112 date=1265701060Why couldnt venues be identified where demountable stadium seating can be accommodated? We used to use this for any number of special occasions and presentations, etc...
It was erected for the Military Tattoo that was due a few days after wed left.
If its good enough for them...

Why couldnt venues be identified where demountable stadium seating can be accommodated? We used to use this for any number of special occasions and presentations, etc... The entire audience can then appreciate all of the proceedings, interactions and what have you. Works in teaching hospitals where students can closely observe medical procedures under way, university lecture halls.....
This type of seating is relatively cheap to hire, erect and demount when the event has completed. Plus, it allows for the audience to be much closer to the action without the problem of trying to view around others, etc.... Might be worth considering

Disgraceful....Originally posted by 584844445F4A744C4A472B0 link=1262094027/109#109 date=1265692706Today, I had it on very good authority that Scott was initially invited to go and be on the Sunrise program this morning. However, the interview was canned because of the major sponsor, in this case, McDonalds, having a hissy fit over another coffee company being mentioned on their turf.
Shame on you McDonalds...may your name be sullied forever for this...instead of encouraging our potential next world champion and certainly our current Australian champion, you are only interested in self and dollars...believe me when I say I will forever boycott your stores and bad mouth your name any chance I get...
Its not as if their floor sweepings have done anything for specialty coffee...RFA branded or not :

Havent stepped on McDonalds soil for about 16 years now...except once when a group of us motorcycling pulled into one and I had to break my vows to stay with the group.Originally posted by 6474787863764870767B170 link=1262094027/109#109 date=1265692706believe me when I say I will forever boycott your stores and bad mouth your name any chance I get...
Refuse to spend my money on this company.
Good to see someone else who remembers how the people have the power in capitalism if only we actually do choose where we spend our money.

Hello...my point exactly.Originally posted by 58514A5358555D300 link=1262094027/108#108 date=1265690752I really think the key to making this more enjoyable to the public in attendance is to work with the actual staging of the event and find ways to create more open presentation areas that encourage cammos and photgs to be between the competitors station and the back of stage, leaving the front clear for audience view.
And...Originally posted by 43535F5F44516F57515C300 link=1262094027/101#101 date=1265634576If AASCA is going to continue to have this event appeal to the general public along with the faithful fans, they are going to have to sort out how they record it.
I was using the big sporting events as an example of how the organisers manage to give everyone a clear view with not too many obstacles. (I also know from experience that some venues just suck when it comes to spectating!) I was not suggesting that AASCA had as big a budget as the Commonwealth games however...sorry if it did seem like it.Originally posted by 43535F5F44516F57515C300 link=1262094027/101#101 date=1265634576AASCA will need to think this through as this event becomes a bigger part of our competitive culture.
But as has been mentioned, I am sure that some staging options could be addressed if AASCA are interested in putting on a world class event.
Anyway...in other news...

yep, it certainly can and youd probably only need one per station. If I had to design a camera system for this sort of event Id be looking to rely on remote pan-tilt-zoom cameras and one roving camera for the whole stage. Still not cheap though!Originally posted by 19111D1C353F3E500 link=1262094027/105#105 date=1265672982could something like suspended cameras be utilized?
there could be one vertically above the judges table, one directly above the machine, and one above the table.
again i suppose it comes down to money
actually, no I dont think they would. sadly, the TV world has changed since Mr Packer came up with World Series Cricket. Generally speaking, even with major sporting events, the networks want to buy a finished product that they can sell advertising against. They have no interest in creating the product to begin with.Originally posted by 0438253E343522373F34500 link=1262094027/104#104 date=1265668855IF a major television station could be convinced to broadcast the championships, they would bear a large proportion of the costs.
Look, dont get me wrong, Id be really happy to see this kind of thing on major network TV. But really the only way its going to happen at this stage is for a finished program to be delivered to someone like Aurora on Foxtel and have them play it out.
I should also ad that higher production values for TV actually means more gear on stage and potentially less clear sight lines for the audience in attendance. I really think the key to making this more enjoyable to the public in attendance is to work with the actual staging of the event and find ways to create more open presentation areas that encourage cammos and photgs to be between the competitors station and the back of stage, leaving the front clear for audience view.
