Portable water needed!

Portable espresso water supply .... just talking to a concert venue and they asked if I was prepared to bring in my 2 group machine etc ... but theres no available water supply. Is there a simple solution? What do these vans do?

A water tank... Just like a Caravan or hard core 4X4 users...

Thanks ... does it need to be pressurized? eg to standard mains pressure?

Depends on the pump in your machine. At very least, your pump will require adjustment to compensate for lack of mains pressure.

You also have to make the choice... Fill tank with filtered water or put an in-line filer in, between the tank and ya machine..

Depending on what your trying to do... Both have pros and cons.. One being potential adjustments to the pump on ya machine... As per 2mcm.

thanks for your input .....

have been googling camper trailers for showers etc and have come up with a Flojet and subsequent filter system - 50 litre food grade plastic container, through Flojet to inline filter and on to the machine.

Sounds pretty falwless and I dont have to change the machine pump at all

how does this sound?

That should work--the flojet pump systems have been used to feed rotary pump espresso machines successfully.

You will need some way of filling the tank also dont forget and 50L wont last forever so depending on numbers you may need additional water on hand during the event. Just did what you are thinking over a 5 day period with no issues.

If you havent already solved your tank/water issues, try having a look at the CAMEC website, particularly in their Plumbing Catalogue Section and youll be able to go nuts with sizes of tanks, pumps, filters, etc.

They are at Caringbah and Engleburn but could be worth the drive. Also, you may get an idea and find a local supplier.

We have a 2 group Expobar megacrem compac.

We use a filter to fill a couple of 20L cubed plastic camping containers (easy to handle) and these are placed under the bench. The machine, without any modifications, pulls the water straight from these. Hence there is no need to plumb in a filter between the water and the machine.

20L will get you just over 100 coffees as long as you are not using your water to make lots of cups of tea or too many long blacks.

Our filter is the one that came with the machine and would normally be plumbed in, but we have set it up with hosing and a tap nut that fits most outdoor taps so that we can take it anywhere, connect it to a tap and then fill directly into our 20L containers as needed and hence dont have to carry large volumes of water (not that we do this too regularly as we have rainwater at home and prefer to filter this and take it with us, as it definitely makes much better coffee). We also dont need to be set up near a water supply, all we need is a tap within walking distance, if we think we may run out of water

If your machine is able to pull straight from a container and you are not planning on doing lots of events and hence dont want to spend dollars on containers, filters and plumbing gear, it may be cheaper to just buy a couple of those large filtered bottled waters that fit onto bubblers (if you understand what I mean?).
