  • Desacaling Help

    Hello fellow CS,

I was after some recommendations as to what brand descaler and back flush cleaner I should be using. I am after something that will actually work and of course I want to buy from a sponsor.

I have a San Marino Lisa.

    Regards

    Back Flush detergent
I use Puly Caff back flush
    Cafetto is also good

    De scaler
This is an acidic cleaner and can be dangerous
If you are not confident in using it get the machine serviced by a sponsor

There is also the Clean Machine range. They provide a descaler as well as backflush. Check the sponsors listed at left.

I agree that if you are not familiar with descaling, you are better paying to have someone do it for you. If you are not in the position to have someone do it for you, research well before trying it.

Also, yours is a commerical machine, even if you use it domestically. I think there is are different products for commercial machines but Im venturing outside my sphere of knowledge here.

          Re: Desacaling Help

Hi guys, thank you for your prompt replies. Are the descalers advertised by our sponsor not safe to use or are these more for home machines?

I currently have my machine apart for a thorough cleaning, although only 2yrs old it has been used lightly and I would like it spotless. So thought I would go over it with a tooth brush. Most piping I have pulled off and seems free of scaling. However inside the boiler and the heating element does show some light scaling.

Should I be looking for a commercial descaling agent or will the ones from our sponsor do the job? Is there anywhere I can get some further info on descaling my machine? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. I could send machine away, but I do like to do things myself and I already have the job started. :

          Cheers

            Re: Desacaling Help

If your doing a strip down I used Cafetto Vanish during my rebuild, you can get it from coffee parts, just make sure you follow the instructions. Drop your boiler or parts in to a bucket of it.

Others have also had success with citric acid but I couldnt find it anywhere local and the vanish wasnt that expensive.

If your doing regular descaling (ie not strip down stuff) I would recommend to use a proper descaler because it breaks down the chucks of scale rather than just falling off in sheets and getting stuck somewhere.

Cafetto have a descaler, also I think Bombora have one Ive heard a few folk mention. Most site sponsors stock a decent descaler I should imagine.

Thanks Lacehim, Cafetto Vanish looks like the go. Do you happen to know which one of our sponsors retails it?

Do you know what the Di Bartoli Clean machine solution is like? Again as he did respond to my post i would like to support him.

              Cheers

The vanish is from Coffee Parts and Clean Machine is good..

I would go back to Di Bartoli and see what he / they can offer that is heavy duty and on par with the vanish...

                Different products for different uses..
