Na... Plenty of others here (6th June) that will comment for ya ;DOriginally posted by 0D2A3C2E36450 link=1274097633/3#3 date=1274176546Thanks guys - I might just take you up on your offer. How would it sound to you if I bring my machine and grinder along, you watch what I do and then critique me.
I want to keep my head.. Ugly as it is.
Have followed up with a well regarded female, so that Pete does not get hot under the collar with a strange man spending time with his Hot wife. Age is no barrierBut I really would like to do a latte art course just to get a bit of training up me and to make my lattes look pretty - its something Id like to master just because at the moment it is something Id like to master!
Thanks for the ideas, both - I might give Vs a call and see if JP might be running a group latte course in the near future that I can join in on or, at the very least, do a one on one with him. So to speak...
;D
Ya onlyl didnt mention my age, AM, because next to you Im a spring chicken!!!!
:-* Okay, maybe a pot boiler... >
;D 8-)
Her contact details are in the pipe line ;D
Knows her coffee and her Art... And has spent plenty of time in the trade, on the floor as well as training etc.
I think you would like her, even outside of Coffee.

Ive no worries about my tamping, really - well, not with the new Demeral, anyway, which Ill bring along for you to check out, too - but more with selecting my grind and what constitutes a good pour. Im a little iffy on what comes out of the spout. Having said that, I mostly enjoy my coffee (well, aside from the odd one like this morning that I really should have sinked, but took to work because Im too scottish to throw it out). I just want someone to say "no, Di, thats underextracted or overextracted, it needs to look more like this. Truth be told, that Ive never really seen someone do it right in the flesh close up, only seen the videos.
But I really would like to do a latte art course just to get a bit of training up me and to make my lattes look pretty - its something Id like to master just because at the moment it is something Id like to master!

I really, really want to do a proper How to Make Good Coffee course and Latte Art course (for home use, not to become a pro Barista...well not just now, anyway!)
DI I hate to say it... But depending on who was teaching; I doubt that you would gain much in the "How to make good coffee".
As to latte art... I can do contemporary Latte art... That is - make a mess and tell you it has deep significance ;D
May and Ant were both great..(twitter) / JP from Vs is above average
And I am sure there are a few others around. Many places promote Coffee training and coffee Barrista certificates etc... But like I said... Your advanced, with respect to skills and understanding... YA age was never in the discussion
Then again as KK says... We could just get some benzos and have a major self help session at my place... Make it a regular thing
OPPS... The start of a real Brisbane Coffee Snobs centre.
1: Service and machine spare parts,
2: Rolling Local roasters - Commercial and home systems,
3: Agents for only teh best equipment,
4: Self help Coffee ANONYMOUS support,
5: Just got to have bling ANONYMOUS support,
6: Coffee ScrapBooking and Photography,
7: Levers and other collectables, and
8: One on One training
Now where was that place again 8-) ....

Training Recommendations - Brisbane Area
Hi All
I really, really want to do a proper How to Make Good Coffee course and Latte Art course (for home use, not to become a pro Barista...well not just now, anyway!) I dont really want to mess around with the origins, storage, etc because I think Ive got that pretty well down pat and have a fairly good knowledge of where beans come from and Id rather get full on training on extraction, grind, pour, etc.
Has anyone else done these courses around the Brisbane area that they can point me in the right direction? I know Di Bellas does a course, and I think Vs does (though not positive because I cant find anything on the Brisbane website) so if youve gone to either of these places, your thoughts?
Live out in Ipswich, but happy to travel either to the Coast or Brisbane Central for a good course.
Cheers
