Been running some Brazil Naturals lately - recently my ISOMAC started on a 7 sec start - thought I tamped to hard then slowly started then just started fkowing creamy coffee pretty fast. I try to aim for a 5 - 7 start to get a good pour - but this was strange. happens all the time now....checking the puck looks fine, not soggy...maybe damp coffee or something similar ? Once I run a roast I will see if that is same.....just wanted to see what this is called or why it happens...slow start (thinking gonna have to pull it) then whoosh rich creamy coffee thick flow. way over 60ml for a double too.

Thoughts ? Nothing has really changed other that colder weather....

With the colder weather you might need to make the grind finer but as you describe.... there is no need for this.
Instead try a slightly courser grind and dosing more into the basket. This should start the pour a little bit earlier and prevent a gusher toward the end on the extraction.

I am also using Brazilian Naturals at the moment from Cerrado i think they were?

I found they needed a slightly courser grind for my machine also.

will give it a try - as much as the creamy coffee actually isnt too bad its way way more than I want for a ristretto.

coffee is just on a week now since being roasted....but it is pretty cold lately in the mornings - noticed coffee tastes are different too. Anyways dropped the grind as mentioned - 5 second pour much better release....although think coffee is on its way or maturing perhaps - taste is more to the sides and back of tongue - sweetness and bitey quite nice actually...
