Back to my original topic. I have had no further problems, despite the intermittent rain in Sydney. I have come to the conclusion that it was a combination of using only 4 day old beans and the extreme weather on Wednesday and my inexperience in accommodating for this. Now the beans are a week old they seem quite stable and steady and responsive to subtle changes in grind.
Once the beans are roasted, the major hydration changes will happen as they are exposed to the moist air, until all has roughly equalized. Id guess a few days exposure would take care of it.

I once had some roasted beans sent from humid Canberra to dry Adelaide, and they ground at completely different settings than the local roasts for several days, gradually moving to the settings I usually use.

    no sun in SYD today

I dont know if it means I had +-12 inchs here this week, but went down the side of the house and emptied an old plastic garbage bin I use for green waste.

it was about 30cm - 12" deep in the bin.............
(nothing else in there except water)

hope the north / west / east / south of OZ got there share.....
in reality its been great rain, slow & steady etc just a PITA to dry the clothes....

the grass in my small yard is so water logged that i am considering some sort of drainage......... >

hope your dams / tanks / winter crops are full and your kids are not fat.........
The rain has come a bit late for some of us out here...it was looking too dry to even plant anything and the promise of rain (ie the long range forecast) was not indicating anything. What were getting now and have had this week may give me some winter grass I hope. Others will have planted on the chance it may have rained or if they had water to irrigate with and Im hoping that they will get a great winter crop...not only will this rain keep their crops alive but our town as well...

I would have thought a more likely cause to be parenting qualities, not sunlight exposure.
Rain or not... Parenting qualities is rather subjective..  In fact is totaly subjective and some what biased by Culture and narrow minds...

The output; may well be influenced but by no means, do the parenting  qualities have a deciding say.  Unless ya lock them up and keep them 100% isolated..  Good or bad parenting quality ? Depends on where ya stand.

To add insult to those trying to do the best they can in a world that changes too fast....  Are the narrow minded ones, who so proudly  state " In my day " .

Sorry; long gone; the world has moved on and about time they did..

our obsession with suncancer and not getting exposed to the sun directly coincides with our younger generation being a bunch of self-obsessed, overweight, whiny, apathetic whingers
Coincides it may, though I would have thought a more likely cause to be parenting qualities, not sunlight exposure.

Well there is a link between serotonin levels and depression associated with limited sunlight (esp. in Scandinavian countries in winter), and somewhat related to extended cloudy/rainy periods.

OT--Strangely enough there is no link between serotonin levels and depression!!! It was all just an assumption that has never been proven.
The more likely culprit as recent research is showing is a vitamin D deficiency. Such a deficiency has been found to be much more prevalent than previously realized. Especially during the winter months among those living between 35 degrees latitude and the poles. Current research is showing that a vitamin D deficiency can cause a lot more problems than previously recognized. With one of the problems that is now being recognized being depression. Sometime later this year you can expect to hear from various health agencies around the world an announcement of a new recommended daily dosage level of Vitamin D. At this point it is appearing that the new dosage will be double the current one and possibly even higher.

The newer anti-depressants (none of which work better than placebo!!) dont even affect serotonin.

Anyway, its all good. Its how I can afford such nice toys! If anti-depressants worked, Id be out of business.

I think this has less to do with Bennets serotonin levels and more to do with the caffeine levels in his bloodstream running low.

Its a miserable day in Perth and Im loving it, gave me an excuse to have the day off work and head into Subiaco and savour an Ethiopian Nekisse syphon brew plus a couple of killer espresso at Spring Espresso.
Thus I turned a winters day into Springtime
