  • Campos beans ?

    Hi there,

At the moment I cant go past Campos beans/coffee.

So Id like to try some other beans that would be of similar flavour.
Is there any brown beans for sale on Coffeesnobs that would be similar ?

At the moment I have a stovetop expresso and a Sunbeam EM0485.

Yes, try some espresso WOW available here it is a blend that Andy has spent years developing, award winning, amazing brew, made up of over 10 different single origins to achieve an amazing result in the cup, still the best ive tasted ever. Kick Campos to the curb, no one has passion like the CS community

If Campos Superior (?) blend is what you like (noted for its dominant caramel flavour), then nothing is similar.

If youd like to try something different then there is a whole list of roasters to the left of the screen, most of whom will have a descriptor of their coffees, and certainly provide a good variety that is often based on their own personal preferences.

Hehehe...cant resist some of these topics

Spacelord, you have unwittingly touched on the subject of "blend matching".

Not wishing to be facetious, but if you want something similar, stick to what you like which is what you are buying now.

One of the interesting things about coffee, is it doesnt all have to be the same and its great to be able to try all this different stuff from different roasters.

No one needs to do something similar to someone else because someone else has already done it! Have an open mind, and ask not "what is simlar", but what the roaster of your choice would like to recommend to you!

Then take all steps to ensure you brew to perfection, and enjoy the ride.

Your posts make my day... Not always agree... But your presentation and outside the square stance is great.

          Spacelord as to the following..

Agree... If ya like it... Why try and get something that is just not quite the same.. Ya mind will let you know and the other person / roaster will be unfairly judged..... Try something but remember unless the taster is Good and following very specific guidelines.. You may or may not get what they say...

Besides your using a stove top and thus one needs to be aware that unless teh roaster has identified what they get in a stove top... An espresso will give something different.

Dont know whether this is sarcasm or not, who know with you Dennis :

PS He didnt specify what blend from Campos, he just said he couldnt go past it.

I offered a suggestion, as he asked about beanbay browns.

No Warren, no sarcasm intended. The Superior is the most common bean sold at Campos; its very likely to be the one mentioned; and I did add a question mark.

                Hi guys,
                Thanks for the comments.
Im totally into trying out different beans, I guess what I ment about the Campos beans is there the best I have tried.
Its like Wine I love trying a different labels.

I live on the sunshine coast, I tried Costa Noosa beans, Signature blend and Pioneer Coffee but I keep going back to Campos.
So I guess I just want something that is of the Campos Caliber.

                Ill try the Expresso WOWs

                Thanks

i didnt know all campos beans had a caramel flavour , it like asking for something similar to soft drink, unless ya specify, then its a pretty open field.......FWIW, more chocolate than caramel last time i tried it, and if you havent tryed it dennis, do yourself a favour and grab a bit, it really is very good

                    cheers

Does anyone know how I could get Campos beans delivered to Vienna? I have thought about getting them delivered to my parent's house free, and then getting them to post it, but that costs about $150 just to sent 5 kg...

So if anyone does know a similar roast, with that syrupy smooth caramel taste, I'd love to hear about it, maybe I can get them to deliver here... So far the local roasters I cannot find one with this taste

Why would you send 5kgs? They'll be stale well and truly before you get a small way through them. I presume that you've used Campos roasted beans in a home machine while in Aust? Are you drinking straight espresso or milk-based drinks?

I've used a UK company called Hasbean (you'll need to google them...I can't post a commercial URL) when based in UK/Europe. Their blends change seasonally, but the Jailbreak Red Blend might be worth a try. Postage to Europe is pretty cheap.

Thanks for the tip Barry I’ll try to track down this blend.

You might laugh, I actually work in a lab here so I have the luxury of being able to store the beans in a nitrogen environment which slows down the whole process. Nevertheless you’re right, local bean roasted on demand would be ideal.
