I have in the past spent a little time weighing gound coffee to get a repeatable amount to play with, but this morning I put the jewellers scales under the cups as I pulled the shots. What I found was my normal morning Ristretto based on my eyeometer was 19mls from 17gms. Next I pulled 16gms into a 160ml cup to make a flat white and usually run a little longer and this was 22mls.
Of course not my own idea to do this but it was very interesting as I have only ever meaured a shot by volumne into a measuring glass and there sure is alot of air in a fresh shot.
By the way I weighed after not during as I wanted to measure my usual habits first of both ground coffee weight and also weight of volumne.
Anyone else like to share they own experience with this its really snobby and I like it alot ;D but actually very helpful too.
