  • Another dosing question...

After reading about the 5c test I thought Id see how I was doing and it looks like Ive been over dosing. I use a double ridgeless basket and was dosing by grinding half way into it and then tapping it and tapping it again to level at three-quarters full (the way its done in a video I was referred to on here). The espresso I was getting from this was enjoyable but after doing the 5c test the coin was buried in the puck (Im assuming the 5c test is done before infusion).
Im now having trouble dosing the required amount to just get a feint imprint of the coin. Its causing much frustration. No levelling knock with the pf and there is no imprint, levelling knock and the coin is buried in the puck. I have the schlosser (sic) mod to my Mazzer Mini which I thought might help but no luck.
Anyone else using a Mazzer Mini manual and Gitto Premium Plus who might be able to offer some advice on their routine?

Sounds to me like you might need something like Scottie Callaghans dosing tools.

Some of the sponsors sell them.

Put the 5c in your pocket and go back to enjoying your coffee the way you used to prepare it.

My thoughts exactly, the 5c test is a handy thing to do initially to see where you are at but after that do what tastes good.
