  • Freshly roasted beans taste better "in a few days"?

    Hi all,

Went down to Single Origin the other day and asked about their roast day but was told that the coffee tastes better "in a few days" than freshly roasted, is that true?

Yes, generally all roasted beans benefit from a few days rest prior to using. This allows them to de-gas [CO2] and for some of the sort after flavours to become more prominent. The advice often given is to try your beans periodically post roast to see what suits your palate best. Hope this helps

Use the advanced search function. Look for "optimum rest times" or how long should I .... There has been LOTS of discussions already and some in the last month or two.

Short answer is YES beans are best with some rest. How much best to do some research of the old threads instead of yet another
