Question on single shot vs double

Using my little sunbeam machine, with preground coffee, I have found that the quality of my crema when pouring a double shot (into 2 glasses) is better than when I just do a single shot for one coffee. Does anyone know why this is the case?

probably because the Sunbeam single filters dont put up enough resistance, so the extraction pressure is too low and the flow too fast.

Let me be the first on the forum to recommend buying a grinder and fresh coffee, and possibly depressurising your filters, and getting some real crema (not "enhanced" crema) from your machine.

yeah im planning on buying an iberital challenge in due course. im sure that will solve a lot of my crema problems
