  • Stick on coffee bag valves?

    Hi Guys n Gals,

Ive bought quiet a few coffee bags, and opted to get the ones without the valves.

Ive since decided that this is a bad idea. Does anyone know of a supplier that sells the stick on type coffee bag valves?

You regularly see them on the bottom of Illy tins, and some side gusset bags use them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards,
    Des

I think that the 10c per bag saving will cost you more now!

I dont know where you would buy them and expect that you would have to buy them in 1000s. The other gotcha is that they heat weld the valve to the bag with a special machine, I doubt you are going to be able to do a neat job of that yourself without using glues that will then cure and give off fumes that the coffee will absorb.

Best bet would be to use them for tea and buy some more bags.

Now Im confused by the user names. OP was Iconiq and reply from BV seems to be the same person.

Anyway - see if you can unload the non-valved to someone who might have a use for them and buy the valved ones.

I am curious though - what led you to the decision to buy non-valved?

I ordered a quantity of foil bags in Thailand thinking they had valves when they did not. I certainly would have paid a few baht extra for bags with valves if I had known.

The same person then sold me a bag of valves and said I could iron them on...its fiddly and not as neat but it seems to work ok.

                  Laughing at your misfortune.

                  Admiring you for sharing.

Wondering if he sold you the iron too?

I laughed too Dennis...lots of comedy doing business here! Similarly the guy who printed stickers for me cut them all to size rather than leaving them on a larger sheet which makes them a nightmare to peel off. You have to spell out everything here or for sure it will turn to comedy.

Fortunately laundry is cheap here so I previously had no need for the iron. Maybe I will advertise it for sale once I have used all of my valveless bags :-)

Keep the iron for posterity - love your sense of humour, or maybe its just your ability to laugh at life; hope to meet one day!

Likewise Dennis. I think with any new business you get plenty of opportunities to laugh with the steep learning curve.

Iconiq, I assume you asked the supplier whether he can sell the valves alone? If not maybe one of the sponsors can help.

                          Hey Guys,

Sorry for the confusion, Andy hit the nail on the head, BV is the office account (they pay for a bit of coffee now and then) Iconiq is my original Snobs Account!!!

To be honest I saw the bags on sale, and went WOW 15c of, sweet...

Silly me... Always do a due diligence I guess...

                          Any ways,

I guess Ill just finish them off, its not ideal, but not worth loosing sleep over...

I store my browns in both valved and non valve zip bags.

With the non valve bags such as emptied mueslie bags, I leave one end of the zip slightly open and fold over the top of the bag with good results.
