      No problem according to this:

      http://standards.nsf.org/apps/group_...1/nsf51-97.pdf

7.3.1 Copper and copper alloys shall not be
used in a food zone except where exposure to food
is limited to potable, non-carbonated water under
constant service pressure. Exceptions to this
requirement are specified in 7.3.2 for brass and
bronze and in 7.3.3 for copper-nickel alloys
7.3.3 Copper-nickel alloys may be used in a food
zone where exposure to food is clearly and
specifically limited to non-acidic foods and
beverages (i.e., food and beverages with a pH of
      6.0 or greater)
So my reading of the standard is that cupro nickle tube should be OK with water or steam.

How much copper are we taliking here? Surely you're only after a few inches? A foot at most? Any fridgy tradey round here would just dock a bit off a roll and some wouldn't even charge you for it.

Yes i agree. I need about 39cm but A. I dont know any fridgies; B. I dont want to roll up and randomly ask one for some; and C. My machine needs a full clean and descale and there are quite a few 6mm runs given it's a volumetric machine with flowmetres x2 so if i need more it's there ready to roll. Funnily enough i an ennealed the butchered piece i had and reflared the top and its in and holding pressure nicely BUT i dont trust the fitting in the long run and prefer to do a fresh piece.

            Thanks for your help.

            Cheers

If you were in Melbourne I'd give a couple of meters. I have an almost full roll of 1/4 soft .91 wall. in the workshop.
