Hi - Ive noticed recently that some establishments are serving very small espressos - ie less than 15ml, maybe 10ml. Mecca espresso is an example. Is this a new trend? What is the aim - the coffees have been very good, just very short. Just wondering if Im missing something here.

Pulling that short gives higher body and sugars, lower acidity and bitterness and will hide a lot of faults in a blend and ergo, more chance the punter will like it but if you were looking for an espresso to try the coffee then its lost in that tight a shot.
David Seng at Veneziano is one of the few that will give me what I ordered everytime. I like that!
