  • Big Brand Coffees - Preference?

I was searching for coffee today in shopping centres in the chatswood area and reviews from the web aint helping. So I had a thought - if only there was a map of who sells Map then Id always have reliable coffee..

So just as a survey, what are everyones preferences on the big brand coffees and why?

Personally, the brand Migliore would be enough to convince me to try a place but Migliore isnt exactly easy to find so I tend to resort to Map or Nu.

Thats surprising given what they say on their website.

"We are currently supplying quality espresso coffee to major distribution companies and major franchise companies"

Why not just ask Map and Migliore for a list of a few places near your regular haunts?

P.S. If I was near Chatswood looking for coffee, its only 10 minutes to Beandrinking in Crows Nest.

when looking at big brands, look for something roasted here, not overseas *cough*

Personally i use apps on my iPhone to find good coffees based on customer feedback

We all know what it rhymes with. You can find it at railway platforms, greasy pizza shops, and all night kebab stands. :P

About half way between Chatswoood and Crows Nest is great coffee at Forsyths on Willoughby Road at Naremburn.

For Chatswood I agree with several reviews on the net, that Houlihans has about the best coffee. They are in Anderson Street just off Victorian Avenue. Good food too.

The problem with maps that show where you can get coffee have little to do with coffee quality. They show who has paid to get on a map.

I prefer Amanti. Locally roasted, and I get all I can drink for free!
But the problem is, the quality isnt just a result of the coffee. Ive seen and tasted the results of the same coffee I drink at home and at the workshop (where it tastes nice) but out on site the quality is very dependent on the baristas knowing what they are doing, and most dont. The worst are the ones who are trained and have been making coffee for years, because they wont listen when they are told they are doing something wrong. So you cant really assume that when you see the same brand being used at a different location that the quality and taste will be the same.
The only place I ever buy coffee when Im out uses Dimattina.
