  • Do assist me in my quest to become accredited.

    Hi.

I hope this shouldnt be posted somewhere else as Im still fairly new to this forum. If so please forgive me.

Im looking to formally do my Barista qualifications. I worked in hospitality roles for a decade and most of those years were spent behind the coffee machine at various places but I never actually got my ticket. This was mostly because I hated working in hospitality and I didnt want to do a course which reminded me how badly I was stuck in the industry. Now that Im not in hospitality anymore and cooking and coffee making are fun again as opposed to eyeball-gougingly painful I think it might be a good time to actually get qualified just for the sake of it.

So. Where in Melbourne can I go to do my course?
I have some friends who want to do it too so Id prefer it was a more fun oriented course rather than industry based, preferably as inexpensive as possible and available on weekends.

    Has anyone got any recommendations?
Looking for a generally positive and rewarding experience.

    Many thanks

I very much doubt that, of course I could be wrong.

Are they still site sponsors ?

Accreditation - interesting word. Depending on the rest of the words in the sentence it can mean different things. It doesnt only mean national recognition of competency contrary to popular belief. It can just be informal and still be about demonstrated competency.

So do you want training leading to nationally recognized accreditation, or do you want to learn tips and tricks of making good coffees with a less formal outcome. They are several sponsors that offer one or the other or both (probably). Dont know which are in Melb.

Did you realise the list down the left of screen are the site sponsors and their web links ? They can even be contacted en masse via the email address at the bottom.

Theres a mob up the road from me which proudly displays (on bits of paper stuck to the 2nd floor windows):

            RSA course $60
            Food safety course $50
2 Hr Barrista course (sic) $70
            Hairdresser course. (might be >$100)

I suspect you can pay a couple of hundred and qualify in all four in a day :
