Gday Coffee Snobs
Several years after discovering the pleasures of coffee, I came across Coffee Snobs (amongst other sites pertaining to the subject) a couple of weeks ago. I was initially amazed that there was so much information available (let alone sites like CS & Coffeegeeks) but very quickly became hooked & have spent a lot (probably way too much!) time researching ever since. Its a fascinating subject.
As I didnt have any serious coffee making gear (with the exception of a small stovetop espresso pot, although Im not sure if this qualifies as serious?) I considered that this was a good place to start (its a bit hard to make coffee without the gear!). Therefore, most of my research to date has concentrated on hardware. This ultimately led a couple of days ago to the purchase of a new BZ99S Classic & Rocky (doserless) plus the usual accessories from Barazi. The gear is very nice but from the many posts & info Ive read, Im under no illusion that it is everything, or even the most important component in preparing the mythical "perfect shot". In common with other newbies, my first few attempts have ranged from fairly ordinary to what I believe is reasonably good. This has shown me is that the potential to produce a truly inspiring drop certainly exits but will only come with experience. But Ive taken taken the first steps along the road to "coffee nirvana" & fully intend to enjoy the journey.
From here I intend to experiment with the myriad of bean types & styles available & ultimately, roast my own (I already grow, having two small trees in the back yard)
Many thanks to CS listers & sponsors who have provided their knowledge & experience. Ive found it to be extremely useful & look forward to contributing to CS.
Cheers
Tony
