Definately the double for the affogatto.

Just the weather for the "treat".

    Hi Chris,

Havent tried the affogatto yet but seeing as it so nice and warm out there today I may have to make that my afternoon coffee    Slowly working my way through the menu.  I tried the Chai Latte (Yes I know its tea) the other day.  Definitely worth the 3 minute wait for it to brew.  None of this syrup business that other cafes use

I highly recommend the affogato - I go with the vanilla bean ice-cream but the others are good too. Also - go with a double ristretto on that affogato!

Hey LisaB, Glad to hear that you are enjoying Epic as much as a few others around here.

I agree with you on the hot chocolate. I havent had anything like it before. A word of warning... they become addictive...

Have you tried the affogatto from there yet?

    Re: Epic

Thought Id add my voice to the positive consensus here. Epic certainly does make kick-ass coffee.
I for one do appreciate the time put into making each coffee. Having been a barista (I believe I can actually use that term) in a VERY busy cafe in a local shopping center I have come to know two things. A) It takes time to make good coffee and B) the general populous does not understand this and believe they should have what they ordered within 30 seconds of ordering it ...regardless. :

But enough of my gripe, back to Epic ... The coffee is fantastic but Id like to mention the Hot Chocolate (I know it has a proper name but do you think I can think of it right now?) I discovered this treat yesterday and I just have to say it is heaven in a cup. Melted Belgian chocolate and warm milk - mmmmm.

Corey and the team are definitely doing it right. Its not just about the coffee, its the whole package. Theyve gone to a lot of trouble to source the best products from the coffee to the light meals right down to the nougat (Oh the nougat). Im well and truly addicted to the entire Cafe. And the added bonus is that Corey and the team make it such a pleasant place to visit. The cafe seems to exude an enthusiastic, friendly atmosphere.

Thank you for upping the standard, not just of the coffee but of the entire experience. [smiley=dankk2.gif]

    Re: Epic

I called into Epic yesterday morning and ordered a double ristretto custom blend. Amazing! The custom blend has been tweaked and in my opinion I believe it to be the best coffee available in any of perth cafes.

The new blend has really raised the bar again. Mouth feel, texture & body are so intense yet so smooth. It really is a coffee that can be had all day long.

Keep up the good work guys.

After my couple of trips to Epic, I think all you folks in Perth are very lucky! Living in Townsville makes it a little on the expensive side to go chasing a nice double espresso. $300 return to Sydney, $600 for Melbourne or a lazy $1200 to go across to Perth make the $3.30 for a coffee a rather expensive cup!

Many thanks to Corey and his team at Epic, the passion for good coffee is evident, and the Custom Blend, well I just hope people dont become blase about it, with the various SOs that will come out over time. It really is exquisite, with a flavour that is distinctive and addictive.

Now all I have to try and do is get a close approximation of them at home on my machine.

Keep up the good work Corey and Team. Two Thumbs Up!

    Re: Epic

The Nicaraguan coffee on offer at Epic is the San Juan del Rio Coco. I had a double ristretto and a Piccolo Latte of it today and it is growing on me. Ive Googled the Cooeprative that produces the coffee and they appear to have both fair trade and organic certifications, so another bonus there as well - I would expect that kind of purchasing from Five Senses though.

Corey, you might want check taht out with 5-Senses and if I got it right I know a few of your customers would be interested to see that up on the board (Unless it is there and I missed it!)

    Chris,

That new SO is from Nicaragua I think. Ill ask Corey about its provenance next time I am in - or alternativey he can tell us about it if he catches this thread today. I tried a ristretto of it about an hour ago. I really enjoyed it, quite different to the capricorn - Ill need to have a couple more to become properly acquainted with it (I only had a single ristretto - should have made it a double but I was also having the affogato. . .).
I was in there this morning for the first time and had (among other things) a double ristretto of the Nicaraguan - it seems I missed the Capricorn by a couple of days. The Nicaraguan was quite different to anything Ive had in Sydney before, so Im hoping to make another visit tomorrow morning to try it again.

Its late now so I cant quite recall any precise flavour notes, but the mouthfeel was almost like could chew it. Different, but I liked it. I just hope I wake up early enough to get in there tomorrow and back to my hotel in time to make my 9am meeting!

    Grendel,

Just tried another double ristretto of the SO about 30 mins ago. It is growing on me... I agree with you about it being different from the capricorn but this is still a real exciting coffee.

I also saw a group order 2 affogatos. They seemed well impressed.
