    Re: SOs and prices...

Ok, I feel like an asswipe seeing as I got this wrong. I didnt realise CS was a non-profit site and didnt factor in all the costs a commercial roaster has.

The differentation in prices from SOs and blends doesnt seem like a great deal to me, maybe more of a premium should be attached to blends?

I think you have been a bit harsh on yourself there Bon. I am sure every knows you had good intentions with your query. Does make a difference in price of beans when you compare greens from here and retail with their added costs impacting retail price, and obviously fair enough. I am sure many people have had the same thought and you were the one who expressed it. So many people will now have the answer without actually expressing it themselves.
Good luck with the bean hunt.

At the end of the day, Im really happy to pay whatever if I know I will get fresh beans everytime since so few places deliver it.

Fair questions, Bon. As you and 2mcm have pointed out, it is a great shame that purveyors of good quality, fresh coffee often have to compete on price whilst the same marketing slang that we have heard rehashed for the past half a decade justifies premium prices at places with great locations. The next time I hear the guy who is selling a T-grade "100% arabica" blend ask for $45/kg, Im going to have to restrain myself not to punch him in the face.

          Cheers,

          Luca

You are coming across as an angry man tonight Luca with this post and the last post you made. Definately not a good night to take you on it would seem.
I have avoided trying to spell any coffee products to avoid aggravating you further

Nothing makes me more angry than people knowingly lying about the roast date - one roastery around here could never tell me the roast date when I walked in, now theyve taken to telling me fibs of roasted x day last week...

I would rather they be honest & upfront about what theyre selling, so I can make an informed choice. At least that way Im more likely to walk away and not be so inclined to speak bad to the less informed public who dont really know any better buying their pre-ground beans.

I just ran "aggravating" through the dictionary. Your spelling checks out. This time ;P
