  • Advice on using the search function

    Gday all

I would like some help to best use the search function on here so that I do not ask too many questions that have already been covered at a previous time.

The drama that I am having is that I cant seem to search older threads.

For example, I am researching trying to get the best out of my cheapy sunbeam ristretto 2300 - and yes I can here the chuckles from here   - I type in sunbeam ristretto and click for "all posts" but because of the 15 post limit, I only get posts dating back to the start of the year and I know there are more posts out there, I have stumbled accross them.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Geez I have just thought - I hope this topic hasnt been covered that would be ironic, posting a new topic on searching so that I dont annoy people just to discover it has been covered 100 times, should have searched, but now Ive written all of this out I cant just delete it

Re: Advice on using the search function

In the "This post was made in the last..." field, set the listbox to "all posts"

Select the "Display only one result per thread?" checkbox.

Re: Advice on using the search function

Another searching tip is to use Google. Type in the word or phrase youre looking for and add "site:coffeesnobs.com.au" after it. This will expand your search results beyond 15, especially for popular search terms.
      Hope this helps.

        Hi Wushoes

Should have mentioned that also - I have been checking that box.

Tried a screen shot but didnt work so long hand it is:

        Search for: sunbeam ristretto
        By user: left blank
Choose board to search in: All
Fields to search: ticked both (but have tried just subject as well
This post was made in: all posts
        How many results: 15
Display only one result per thread: checked

Cheers for getting back to me so quick - I have been following your info regarding sylvia and em6910 as well, interesting reading and a lot of good info on both machines.

              Success!!!

I did the google thing and got just under 300 hits. Now to wade through them and see if the info I am seeking is there.

              Thanks all.
