Re: Spaming CSrs?  - Barista & Sons

    Complaint has been lodged...

You would think they would have learnt following their last effort.

I strongly suggest their membership to this site be revoked! They are definitely not the type of people we want as members.

Re: Spaming CSrs?  - Barista & Sons

              Hi all

You deserve an explanation as to why you received one or maybe two emails
              from Barista & Sons today.

Our agency was doing some routing testing on our website, which is still in
development, and they sent the old First Newsletter email in error. We
didnt even know this email was being sent until we received some complaint
              emails.

After hearing some of your concerns from last time, the last thing we would
want to do is send this email out again - it doesnt benefit us in any way.

Our agency is looking into how this happened and are providing us with a
              detailed report on Monday.

Again, it is unfortunate that this has occurred, please be assured that I
have deleted all emails from our database and only kept those who have
              opted in via our website.

Should you wish to take this off-line, please feel free to contact us
              directly.

              Best regards,
              Barista & Sons

this should have happened a month ago. Not good enough.

You know what amuses me most about this? I know full well how easy it is to abide by the Act, and how you have to be pretty much deliberate in your actions to breach it.

Agree totally.... I believe (quite strongly) as I said before their membership should be terminated at the very least....

ACMA can (hopefully) do the rest!

ACMA are feeble and do nothing.

However, it hardly matters as this spamming mob has only alienated a whole db worth of potential clients due to its offensive and intrusive hawking.

Way to make a bad name for yourself guys!
I hope your agency is proving a worthwhile investment.

Thanks Dennis youre a scholar and a gentleman.
However just before your copy arrived I got two from them and then noticed that yours and theirs were all the same "First Newsletter" again.
                        Nothing new.

My comments as someone whos been in IT for too many years and martial arts for many more:

As hazchem said, its too easy to do the right thing.
Secondly, if they have anything at all to do with martial arts, as suggested by the picture, then they should be ashamed of the lack of discipline surrounding this whole affair.

I have white belts with higher standards.

While I have your attention baristaandsons maybe you can comment on a point from your Privacy Policy.

                        1.2
Barista and Sons will collect personal information only by lawful and fair means and not unreasonably intrusive way.
1.2 - collect personal information by lawful means.
Please explain how collecting our email addresses from this site falls under that statement.

                        Another thing.
                        The website loads too slowly.
                        Lose the video.
Whoever is advising you on the website design should know that people wont hang around that long waiting for the main page to load and when the next one is also slow theyll be gone in a click.

                        Keep it simple guys.

Frankly, Im more concerned that you would mine the addresses off this webpage to start off with than that your database screwed up. Presuming that the spam legislation actually prohibits this sort of thing, I struggle to comprehend what excuse you could come up with for seeding your database with CS members email addresses. Couldnt you do this sort of testing with fake email addresses on your server, or real email addresses that you own, or email addresses less unscrupulously obtained? How can you have an iota of credibility given that you obviously collected the email addresses to start off with?

Well ... are you going to answer this, or are questions that put you on the spot the sort of thing that you want taken off-line to avoid embarassing yourself?

Sorry to come down hard on you, but I think that even if creating such a list to start off with is not illegal, it is still pretty low conduct. And if you have a reasonable explanation, I want to hear it.

                          Cheers,

                          Luca
