      Hi Babybean and welcome!

Top 7 Perth cafes?  Hmmm, thats a pretty meaty question, as its all a matter of personal opinion...

Without a doubt though, there has been a real advancement in Perth coffee circles in the last couple of years with some fantastic Speciality Coffee roasters arriving on the scene and hooking up with some very dedicated and passionate cafe owners!

Rather than provide you with a list of my personal favourites (and run the risk of inadvertently missing some-one out!) take a look at this site -> http://cafe-grendel.blogspot.com/  which belongs to CoffeeSnob member and Perth coffee-blogger extraordinaire, Grendel.  Theres some really knowledgeable and objective writing in there (look under the heading of "Perth Coffee and Food" on the right hand side) which can give you some really good info.

      Enjoy the read!

      -A-

PS: If I was forced to say my absolute "Numero Uno" favourite - Epic Espresso (Corner of Outram and Hay Streets, West Perth) - sublime .

We havent been to Perth for nearly 3 years - at that time we couldnt find a good coffee in the CBD.

Re: What are the best cafes in Perth?

There are more than 7 cafes in Perth that deliver reliably great coffee - I reckon this makes us bloody lucky. I wouldnt rank them in order for a number of reasons - the first being that every cafe is subject to the whims of fate and weather but among the cafes I have listed there are some that are an order of magnitude above the others in terms of reliability for coffee. Epic, Velvet, Tiger Tiger and Boucla all in the inner city would be among these but do not comprise the compete top group which includes T5 out in the suburbs. T5 is always at its best when CS Terry is there to make the coffee.

The coffee map on Grendels blog is a great guide - Ive been working my way through the list (tough job, but Im coping) and have found great coffee at all Ive tried so far.

If I had to pick only 7 favourites - Epic, Tiger Tiger, Cafe 54, Ristretto, Mooba, Lemon, T5.

Others worth trying (my opinion only) -
                * New Norcia cafe/bakery in Mt Hawthorn - with their own 5 Senses blend and a shiny Synesso
                * The Merchant on Beaufort St

Another newby in Perth, Ristretto in Central Arcade has a Synesso. My son called in this week and had a coffee, its very small, mainly aiming at takeaway market I think....................he said the coffee was good!!

                      Hello all,

Theres a little coffee shop in Trinity Arcade in Perth, which is really a imported Belgian chocolate shop! The guy who runs it is obsessive about his coffee and chocolates, and you would not be able to get better coffee in Perth, or Freo for that matter. The shopkeepers name is Robert, and tell him I sent you and maybe hell give you a good deal on coffee and imported chocolates!!

                      Cheers,

                      Peter Pierre

Hope this isnt "research" for one of perths many lame lifestyle magazines

Aubergine in South Freo has made a tasty cup.

Checked out CafeRama, Raine Square, Perth City last Thursday, it is fairly new but the latte was good, nice decor and friendly staff.

Hey, sorry I missed your post... Robert is pretty reasonable, in comparison with the dodgy cafes around the CBD in Perth. You might have to wait for a few minutes, though - he uses a two group La Cimbali to make the coffee so if a few people are waiting, youll have to wait too... Its worth it,though!
