I snuck in a couple of cheeky takeaways on my way to Newcastle this morning (1 for my wife and 1 for me). Didnt identify myself as a Snob and was impressed with the coffee. Nice work Nunu.

Zipped down the F3 to check out WOTB this afternoon, had a nice shot of a fruity Harrar, and a good chat with nunu and green bean.

Thanks guys, and I hope the business keeps growing!

It was great to have a couple of cuppas on Saturday at a very swish cafe. A near total contrast to its surroundings!!!

I wish Id have had a bit more time to get a look at the roaster up close, but realistically I was on a tight schedule should have left after the first cup - not the second

It was a good morning and the coffee was good too. Nice to meet sparro and his father, especially as I had just PMd him a couple of days before about the fact that he and I had the same setup and Id asked for some pointers - it was good to hear it from the horses - sparros? - mouth.

Also nice that the staff are so friendly and willing to have a chat when things are a little quieter - to me it shows a passion for product.

I might even be popping in again next Sat as I need to drive my grandmother back up the coast, so if I make it through that way before 1pm, it is a great little stopover point for us.

Cheers guys and I hope things stay on the up and up.

    Shannon.

Anthony, from my direct experience, dont expect much of a return from flyers - even if you offer a little freebie of some sort or discount, they usually go straight in the bin.

Over my way, people love the local newspaper (biggest circulation in AU). I sent an email to the editor telling them about a local roastery opening and next thing I knew I was being interviewed and a photographer showed up too. Im still to see the story in print, and it may not even happen (depending on what ad space or other news is reported on the day) but it cost nothing and has great potential to draw in the customers!

Ive heard that people need to hear your ad 4 times before they will act upon it, so I suggest you devise a few different ways of getting your message out there. Maybe you could even stand near the railway turnstile with your chef outfit on and hand out your cards?

Thank you all for the accolades. It really warms our hearts that we are providing a welcoming place to have a really good coffee and food.

It does get a bit hectic at times, and we arent able to provide the same experience for everyone who walks through the door (i.e. personal chat). We do try to put everything into the coffee and food, and hope that speaks for itself.

We are at a slight disadvantage having to almost start from scratch customer-wise. Sure we had a decent fit-out to start with, but you need customers to pay the bills. Im happy to say that we are "Spreading the gospel," so to speak, and it is catching on with some of the locals. We just need to get off our butts and get the business cards and leaflets finished so we might entice more locals to come in and at least give it a go.

I dropped in again... but this time also brought my old man... I know he enjoys coffee. Both of us really loved the toasted blueberry cake n cuppa. Also served a fantastic espresso.

To add to the morning, none other than "Shannon" dropped in on his way up the coast. We had a good chat regarding our BottII and Rock grinders.

Not yet tried nunus cooked breakfast.... but sounds great!!

Nunu & greenbean are great hosts

    Re: New cafe opening soon...

Sorry I missed you all this morning but I was getting my beauty sleep (didnt help).

My wife and I popped in late this morning to taste the wares.
I was hoping to sneak in but unfortunately Anthony recognised me on one trip out from the kitchen.

I was hoping to do a Chopping Block style review complete with hidden cameras but he sprung me.
I knew I should have worn a wig.

Anyway, on the way in I spotted a lemon tart in the display window.
Im not a sweet person but these looked very tempting and are one of the few sweets that I may make an exception for.

We found a seat inside (the place is HUGE) and perused the simple menu.
My wife and I both chose the Brekky Wrap.
Now Im not really into wraps or tortillas as this one was made with but nunu managed to present it in a way that was appealling to me.....stuffed full of bacon, scrambled eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms!
A Big Breakfast wrapped in a tortilla. Absolute brilliance!

The wrap came out on a rectangular plate, neatly cut in half at an angle with one half leaning on the other. Nice presentation.

After our hearty brekky we both ordered the lemon tart. It was YUM!.
And huge. I hate those little things that are the size of one bite.
This one needed several bites and after the wrap the last bite was almost a struggle.

Coffee was next. A long black for my wife and my usual flat white.
My wife commented hers looked weak. It was then I realised that Id forgotten to ask for double shots.
Im not used to ordering coffee when out.  :
It wasnt a problem though as my wife was feeling a bit fluey this morning and the weaker coffee was better.
As for my flat white, the flavour was so good I couldnt tell it wasnt a double shot.

Today we were served a SO Nicaraguan roasted a little to the light side. About CS 7-8 IIRC; nunu can correct me.

I also got to have a close look at the In-house Roaster.
    Smaller than I thought.
    More expensive than I thought.
Very nice looking and understandably a talking point.

Anthony also talked me into trying an espresso.
Now Im not an espresso drinker and I warned him that the best one Ive ever tasted was made with beans roasted by me. But I was game if he was.

Well his came in a close second!

All in all a great morning out.

Wine of the Bean comes highly recommended by me and my wife will be recommending it also to friends of ours who have been lamenting that theres not much in Thornleigh by way of a good place for a weekend breakfast.
    Well now there is!!

If you havent been yet, get yourself there and try it for yourself before too many locals find out about it and you have to queue up.

    Hey there WOTB
Im looking at being at the cafe tomorrow morning just after opening (if I get my act together!)
I am heading up the central coast to help my aunt move house - and thornleigh is on the way. We actually tried to drop in last Sat on speck, but I didnt take the adress. We cruised down a few streets, but on the WRONG side of the tracks doh!!

Looking forward to a couple of quick brews to break up the trip.
