Really depends on what I feel like, varying from a 125ml piccolo to a 500ml double double megalatte breakfast cup - saves making 2 cups!

    cheers

Funny how I cant sleep if I take coffee after 5pm and I go to bed at 11pm but in the morning (weekdays only) I have my coffee at 9am and feel sleepy by 10:30 (am). Doesnt happen on weekends though. I have a faint suspicion being at work may have something to do with countering the effects of caffeine on me ;D

To answer the question, mine sits in between 200 and 250ml, about 210ml. BUt I have a shot and a half with it. Why half? Because one spout goes into a measuring glass and I try it straight to see if its bitter, sour etc.. but I wont finish it so I pour the remainder in with the other shot into a glass.

Sleep is for the weak, drink more coffee.

Around 160ml, maybe just a bit more with a double shot--calms the shakes right on down.

Speaking of preferences, read through this: http://queenhoda.vox.com/library/posts/tags/starbucks+rant/

Theyd have to prop my dead corpse up in the coffin and pry my mouth open to get me to drink what she ordered, but its funny nonetheless. Funny little video at the end too (what you can understand of it), but some language concerns for the little ones, so be warned

"I can walk around the corner and get a "Tall" coffee for 50 cents..."

Sleep is overrated. Just dont drink a double after 6pm and you should be right. 8-)

My favourite coffee drink is a latte and I use a 200ml duralex glass.

I make em with single shots, but have tried doubles few times and tend to get the shakes from the caffeine hit ;D

I find a single shot in a 200ml about right (ofcourse, that is from the SB6910 which uses about 12 - 14g for a single) and a double (21ish grams) for a 300ml drink about right.

Whether they are lattes or not is a matter of opinion, and probably depends on how frothy the milk was at the time of pouring

as I always say - do the experiment -
my over roasted monsooned Malabar was evil with a double shot and 100 ml of milk but an extra 60 ml of milk made all the difference :-)

The 160 ml Duralex glasses and a double shot work for me , but after some of the roasting disasters Ive had lately; a 12 g basket and 200ml of milk are my preferences. mmmm , did someone say cafe latte.. ;-)

If people want to call them lattes instead of cafe lattes ;D

Too true TG, many a newbie to Italy has been served a glass of milk at the request of a Latte. 8-)

I play with toys for a living and am told I have the mental age of 10 : so do I qualify?

Just to make sure if having one made by someone else I ask for a strong one, it normally gets me the grown up version most of the time

To many coffes playing with my new grinder [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] off to go and bounce off some walls

If people want to call them lattes instead of cafe lattes they can do that too; but they run the risk of not getting what they hoped for.
    Unless they are under 13.

"How large is an ideal latte?" - however large you want it to be! Youre the one drinking it
Totally agree. And TG, my prior response was not aimed as a reply/response to anything (except the title question). At the end of the day you should dirnk coffee the way you like to drink it. But for the sake of the argument of definition, I think its important to get back to the philosophy of why a particular style of drink was created. For the Latte, it was was children in italy to adapt to the ever potent flavour of espresso coffee, and such, was designed to be milky. Hence, for me, a latte should be 200-220mls and with one full shot of espresso (and for that matter, shouldnt be ordered by anyone over the age of 13). But thats just me, If you want a 160ml milk based drink with a double ristretto as the base, and wanna call it a latte I dont have a problem with that either. Each to their own

I believe that anything under 200mL be considered a piccolo latte, not that that matters

I find a traditional latte a bit weak and milky, so I drink ~160mL flat whites - generally with a double ristretto base.
