great ingenuity, but from memory there was a thread here a while back regarding re-using one way valve bags - i think the outcome was basically to ensure a VERY thorough cleaning b/w uses to try to rid old rancid oils from upsetting the new bean batch.

Does my bag look dirty? I dont think it does :-?.  As you mentioned, there was another thread about cleaning bags. http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1198287865/12#12

This one is about sealing them.

Ajay & TG have the answer,
i will have to find somewhere close to purchase them as a 80km round trip to Ikea just doesnt seem worth it.

Add ajays idea to mine and the bags may last forever.
Brilliant!! Tell me, can you turn the freezer bags inside out after one use?

Great ideas people. I think ill use TGs freezer bag idea, and oneday get an impulse sealer. Love the mod on the bag clips ajay. At first i thought it was just one long clip. Did you just melt them together?

No because the oils would then dirty the valved bag.

They cost less than 0.01c each.

You might be able to melt them and fuse the plastic, but I used a new Selleys product that they call Plastics Glue. It is two parts, consisting of a primer in a texta-style pen which you apply to both surfaces, then a tube of super-type glue which is applied to one surface. Grabs and holds very quickly.

                        Yup, it sure does

I managed to stick my index finger to my roomba with this stuff. If not for having the nail polish on hand I mightve had to make a gruesome decision.

Skin off finger vs beloved robot vacuum? Hmmm....

Its been an interesting week :-/

PS. Great tip on the clips ajay -- off to Aldi we go

Re: Extending the useable life of one-way bags

Ive been using the freezer bags inside the seable bags for a while now thanks to TG

Question to those who use this:

I notice that the bags still smell a little after I remove the inner bag. I would presume this to be volatile oils and though much less than without the inner bags, that they would still become rancid and affect the coffee.

                          Whats your experience please?

                          Thanks
                          Robert

Good one BeanF, the local Aldi is a lot closer than IKEA.

                              R22?

                              Cheers

Ive noticed it too but just put those bags aside to air and use them again later.
I probably have up to 6 bags in rotation.
