    Re: nescafe GREEN blend??!!

Maybe Nestle have hired the same marketing gurus as used by the toothbrush manufacturers. Im staggered by how many new concepts can be shoved into a toothbrush each year.

Antioxidants are just the next marketing gimmick. Im sure they all congratulated themselves and had a big lunch after coming up with that idea. Itll be something new next month. I mean really - trying to con people into drinking instant coffee that contain raw beans because they might get some antioxidants - gimme a break >

On a similar note, I was reading a womens magazine today and there was a range of facial products that used the flowers of the Coffee Plant as it had the highest level of antioxidants known.

Wow, not only drinking it, but also slathering it on my face - I may never get a good nights sleep again!

      ;D

You boys aint seen nothing until youve had a good look at the amount of rubbish they claim has anti-ageing properties/ wrinkle decreasers/line removers/skin dullness eliminators, etc, etc, etc, etc. Quite an industry and - sadly - the marketing must work because these companies havent gone out of business yet.

Something makes me think I will be leaving it on the shelves.
Yeah! However, I have such a morbid fascination that I almost wanna go out and buy some! Its a "I cant look yet I cant look away" type thing...much like a horrible car crash!

Might make a good solution to put on the front lawn to stop dogs leaving messes?

yeah im kinda curious too. havent had nescafe for about 7 years now. Its all about the marketing. A girl at work has fallen for it as it "has more anti-oxidants than green tea". Sad realy.

                Re: nescafe GREEN blend??!!

Im a confessed coffee nut and I can vouch for trying most of the stuff out there for the hell of it.

Theyve managed to make Greenblend taste quite good, but thats because its actually much the same as regular coffee with some cheap artificials.

There a now a couple of imported products selling in Australia that contain a bunch of supplements/chinese herbs + arabica coffee. The sad thing is they are all attaching their "weight-loss" propeganda to the sell.

Super Green Coffee is one of these alternative coffees I have tried. You can taste the other ingredients, but the arabica does an okay job at overpowering it. Be prepared for a different taste anyway, and a longer buzz. Its not cheap, so I am trying to have it stocked in my store!

Another one similar is Coffee Shape, but also expensive

                  Hi Maria,

welcome to CS. Make sure you have a read of this posting on site rules lest the mod squads wrath be incurred http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1169531478

Personally adding herbs and flavours to coffee is sacrilege and to claim weight loss properties is pure bunkum and hocus pocus :

                    Welcome Maria... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Those links are OK, dont think many members are going to be encouraged to try any of this stuff, seeing as how we are Coffee Snobs after all.... 8-)

Do yourself a favour Maria, try some real coffee brewed by someone who knows what theyre doing while using only freshly roasted, high quality beans.... Such as we have access to here from Andy, our terrific Site Sponsors and other passionate, specialist coffee outlets often referred to here on these boards.

Instant is just instant, its NOT coffee Im afraid, no matter what is being claimed on the label...

                    Mal.

Blend Green beans with Roasted beans

Hi all, just wondering if there was a theory on weather you can blend Green beans with roasted beans.  I have just seen the ad on TV for Nescafe Greenblend and it got me thinking if it was something that could actualy be done.

It has sparked my imagination to see what would end up in the cup, dont really care as to what the Nescafe blend taste like or the claimed extra 70% antioxidants.  Just curiouse to see if anyone here has tried doing it at home.

Would you just blend the same bean or would you try to blend from different regions?

                      Thanks

                      Chris

Even better--apparently research shows that roasting has either little, no, or a positive effect on antioxidant activity.

This leaves the only question being: Which tastes better?

Dont get me started. It really gives me the irrits with the amont I have to pay for the latest four wheel drive toothbrush or razor blade with double overhead cams, independent suspension and self cleaning fluffy dice to cover their bloody R & D costs when all I want is something to brush my teeth and give me a shave. AND give me blades that will last more than 3 shaves before becoming blunt as a *insert own analogy here*.

                            End of rant!!!!

Just realised, that was 12 months ago ;D See how a good rant overwhelms all rhyme or feason.

The goodness of NESCAFÉ Green Blend lies within the unfrosted green coffee beans. They are naturally rich in polyphenol antioxidants, which can help protect the body’s cells from day to day damage. Polyphenol antioxidants are also found in green tea and cocoa.
