  • The neighbours think I am mad

Set the corretto up the weather looked OK.  Started roasting then the wind built up then just to add a further degree of difficulty a Tropical Shower/Squall   > - The Panama Boquete felt nicely at home  8-).  The wife and I under umbrellas keeping the rain off the electrical items & the beans as we were only a third way into the roast.  The rain kept coming and did not ease off until after we pulled the roast.

I could hear the murmurs from the nearby neighbours.  If they didnt think we were a bit strange by now then their mind has been made up for sure now.   But then again they are not CoffeeSnobs

The roast turned out nice at about CS 10  - First Crack at 15 minutes - Stopped on just Second Crack at 21 minutes.  8-)  Now I have to wait a couple of days to try the taste.   Then we will see who is mad  [smiley=evil.gif]

Re: The neighbours think I am mad

My neighbours dont think that I am mad at all, they are convinced of it and you couldnt pursuade them of anything different. Although I must add that I went out of my way one day I saw the neighbour in her front yard, pulled her a double ristretto latte and took it to her, she didnt have the chance to say no thankyou because it was already there and so that was that, she now understands the difference between garbage and "real" fresh coffee. Mind you it was a very good ethiopian yirgacheffe with awesome flavour and aroma, something to die for.
I gotta say it was great strategy, they no longer look at me strange when theres smoke pouring out of my garage.........

      Ray.

My wife often comments that she expects a police raid at any time when I am roasting in my garage, with smoke and aromas billowing out into the neighbourhood she thinks the neighbours expect I have a clan lab in operation!!

Add a few syphons to the mix and people definitely start to get suss.

hahah yeah this is hilarious.. so true hey! I havent roasted in the rain with my wife holding an umbrella but once I did 3 roasts in a row inside the house, the whole place was smoked out, and all of a sudden all these visitors showed up.. haha.. they were all goin "what the hell are you doing in here!!".. I think that was the last time I roasted inside, I dunno what the hell I was thinking!!!!

Our house is well ventilated, and gets a lovely breeze running straight through.. so its not quite as crazy as it sounds.. but still... I suppose I was a little bit crazy... for decent coffee!

Re: The neighbours think I am mad

My fellow work mates think I am smuggling in drugs from overseas, because I have had a few loads of coffee delivered to work.
I suppose coffee is a drug.

Re: The neighbours think I am mad

Until I started home roasting the wife was tea only but now she is nearly as obsessed as me when it comes to sampling Single Origin coffees. We have tried one blend but mainly stick to SOs.

By the way when I called it a shower I meant a North Queensland Shower it was nearly a white out. The roast looks good I might even try it tomorrow.

The neighbours will not get any. Let them think I am mad but at least I drink great coffee. I will leave them to their instant coffee. ;D

And the problem with being crazy is just what, exactly?

No problem - matter of fact in this world it helps to be a little mad :. But then again what is normal to one person may not be normal to another :-/

                      Who cares Stan, ;D

Its when the "think" upgrades a to a "know" that you realise that your job is done... Then theyll leave you well and truly alone 8-)

All I can say is I have lived where I am for 2 years and the neighbours have not visited. Maybe they know ;D

The World has gone mad anyway.
Might as well be part of it.
