Now that the lease has been signed and Ill be picking up the keys on Monday 29th December, I can reveal the location (if you hadnt already guessed) and a pic of the shopfront...
love it! digging the blue tiles outside and the upper section of the window. *edit* I remember this shop now! The ship chandler/marine exchange or something.
Cant wait to see what you do with it Dennis, congrats!
Good pick up Den. I love the Art Deco facade. Very stylish and somewhat appropriate for a coffee business.
A great location. Close to home for you too. I first thought it was at the top of the hill near Southgate Bowling ctr/Sylvania pub.
But in response to Tonys suggestion, across the road is Pauls Famous Hamburgers. There have been stories about people stepping off a plane and insisting the taxi driver take them straight to Pauls.
I hope there will, over time be Dennis Wells Famous Cuppacoffee
Give us a hoy if you need any help with the move.
Cheers
Steve
PS Id love to take advantage of this deal: http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1203772677/10#10
Well, I picked up the keys for the shop yesterday and have lifted the dirty old carpet tiles to find part of the timber floor covered in old linoleum tiles, glued down with tar paper. These were obviously glued down to last an eternity!
Were going to sand and varnish the hardwood timber floor but first have to remove the tar paper and residue from about 30% of the flooring and will tackle this tonight.
Hopefully, Ill have found a new and effective use for a heatgun! ;D
Weve made good one of the walls that was a bit dodgy and repainted all the walls. Through Michaels perserverence and 4 litres of turps the floor has been cleaned up and once some nails are banged down it will be ready to sand and polish later this week.
I couldnt resist doing something with the fireplace, so stripped and sanded, added a few features, and varnished. Cleaned the tiles as best I could and we now have a nice feature. There was a fire in the building over 30 years ago and the chimney was removed and sealed, so at this point it wont be operative.
Still lots to do, though already looking 100 times better than it was a week ago and will post some pics later.
