    makes sense.

Id be up for some guessing - But I am almost sure I would score somewhere around 0% right!

    Woo-hoo!

I picked #1 as the Harar Longberry because it looked dirtier (ie. more likely dry-processed)... but youre right; the sidamo (didnt really guess that one) also looks "long".

Wahgi is a AA grade (ie. largest beans), so I picked the biggest bean for the Wahgi...

    Cheers
    Stuart.

ps. maybe Ill be the quiz master this time...

whoops! I think I just gave away too much!!! Well done!

    1. ethipian harrar longberry
    2. PNG wahgi AA
    3. Sulawesi Torajah
    4. brazil bourbon bold
    5. yemen bani ismail
    6. ethipian sidamo

So what made you pick 1 as the longberry over 6? I couldnt tell the difference. Both seemed to have an element of longness! Id also be interested how you picked the brazil from PNG.

Ive got more I could put up to play, but I think you would be the only person guessing!

    A-ha!

In that case, number 3 is definitely Sulawesi Kapua Toraja - I remember it having that puffy (almost monsooned), and very clean appearance!

That must make the Wahgi #2 - it looks big and Wahgi was a AA grade...

I think my 2 correct guesses were #1 as the Eth Harar Longberry and #5 as the Yemen.

That leaves #s 4 and 6. Ill go with #4 as a Brazil DP (maybe Ipanema?) and #6 as some other ungraded Ethiopian - possibly another longberry, but its hard to tell.

    Hows that?
(I wouldnt have had another go, but this appears to be a 2-player game! :P)
    Cheers
    Stu.

    More hints needed?

Ill add in that you were right stuart, there is a PNG wahgi in there, and also a sulawesi torajah! But I am not saying if you got the locations of these right or not!

Haha! 2/6 leaves plenty of room for improvement!

Only thing is, if I had another go Id be guessing... Anyone else want a turn? You cant go backwards!

Care to drop another couple of clues, Damian (eg. one of the Eth regions or something)?

    Still fun
    Cheers
    Stuart.

Hey, excellent! I was hoping someone would have a go. I really like your method - very thorough.

Yeah good idea to score. You reminded me how much I used to enjoy mastermind - might have to go and see if they still sell it!

    Now to check your score...

    ..... 2/6 - better than I could do.

Thanks for giving it a go! Anyone else got any thoughts???

    Ok, Ill bite...

Youve got 3 high-altitude beans in there (2 x Eth, Yemen), and 3 not-so-HG (Brazil, PNG, Sula). Youve got 3 or 4 dry-processed (Yemen, Brazil, and at least one of the Eths), 1 or 2 wet-processed (PNG - probably, maybe an Eth?), and a Sulawesi (semi-washed or some other random process). Grading... who knows?

Rather than explaining my thinking, Ill just cut and paste this little table I used in my nutting it out:

[BR] DP WP HG LG Graded Large Small Longberry [BR]
[BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR]
    Brazil x [BR] [BR] x x ? ? [BR] [BR]
Eth-Harar x [BR] x [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] x [BR]
    Eth ? ? ? x [BR] [BR] [BR] ? ? [BR]
    PNG ? ? [BR] x x x [BR] [BR] [BR]
    Sula ? ? [BR] x ? ? ? ? [BR]
Yemen x [BR] x [BR] [BR] [BR] x [BR] [BR]
[BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR]
[BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR]
[BR] DP WP HG LG Graded Large Small Longberry [BR]
[BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR] [BR]
    1 ? ? ? ? [BR] [BR] [BR] x Eth, Sula, Yemen
    2 x [BR] ? ? x x [BR] [BR] Brazil, PNG, Sula
    3 [BR] x [BR] x x x [BR] [BR] PNG, Sula
    4 x [BR] x [BR] x [BR] x [BR] [BR]
5 X [BR] ? ? [BR] [BR] x [BR] Brazil, Eth, Sula, Yemen
    6 ? ? [BR] x [BR] [BR] [BR] x Eth, Sula

You might notice that my algorithm fails to classify bean #4!

    Anyway, my final votes are:
    1 - Ethiopia Harar Longberry
2 - Brazil (one of many DPs last year)
    3 - PNG Wahgi AA
    4 - Ethiopia - could be Yirgacheffe
    5 - Yemen
6 - Sulawesi - dunno which (not Kapua Torajah)

So... how did I do? Maybe giving me a plain mark out of 6 will give others a clue... (Mastermind style!).

    That was fun,
    Cheers
    Stuart.

No one wants to take a guess?

Ill give some clues (alphabetically) - brazil, ethiopia, ethiopia, png, sulawesi, yemen. and include the term longberry somewhere!

Hi - 6 coffees for you to identify - I tried to keep them a bit bigger so more detail could be seen.

They have now been modified so smaller.
