    Re: Cuppacoffee Grand Opening!

Oh no!!!! Thats devastating. At least Dudleys ok, lucky he likes the heat.

Well all have to make the effort to increase our wholesale orders so you can get it up and running again sooner.

Good luck with the rebuild (at least you can now change anything you wish you did better).

        Im lost for words

However as you said Dennis no one was hurt and thats the main thing
How ironic, you spend a day pulling shots to help fire victims, only to become one yourself.
Thank God no one was hurt.
Dudley survived to roast another batch. Sad to see your stock of greens go up though, I was enviously admiring all those CS bags on Saturday & that big sack of Blue Horse sad indeed! The good thing is that its all replaceable, people are not.
With a bit of  grit & determination (youve got it in spades) youll be back on your feet in no time, Im already looking forward to the long trip back to "THE SHIRE" for the reopening! This time the $10.00 shots of JBM should go th the Cuppacoffee Grand REOpening Fund Im sure youll have plenty of support.
Always look on the bright side.

Terrible news, Den. All your hard work! Very sorry to hear that.

They reckon roasting coffee is a fire hazard, but from a pedestal fan?! Anyway, about time you refurbished the shop again, Den - it was getting a bit stale.  :-/ (Sorry, poor attempt at black humour.)

Hope it gets sorted out quickly. Take care.

Being able to smile and have a laugh, is all part of the recovery process...

Regardless of the impact to the clients etc.... It was good to hear that no one was injured...

Any details on the FAN... Make and model etc.... A one off or a known problem... I just bought one and do not need a fire at home...

Really, really sorry to hear your news Dennis.  What a terrible thing to happen after all your hard work.  I hope that the clean-up process isnt too painful and that we can all come to your re-opening soon.

Warmest wishes & kind thoughts - Carrie

              Re: Cuppacoffee Grand Opening!

Thankyou all for your concern, the phone calls, and to the locals who noticed me at the shopping centre or near our shop to offer their support. Its very much appreciated.

Just a bit of an update...

There are two insurers involved and to their credit, both sent representatives today to begin assessing the damage. All being well, the claims will be accepted and work will commence in just a few days.

The fan is basically just a plastic puddle on the floor. I cant recall for sure the brandname, so wont mention what I think it was. It doesnt matter anyway. Ive heard of this sort of thing happening with toasters, exhaust fans, fridges, dishwashers, etc.

For the moment, Im feeling a little paranoid to even leave a phone charger in a power outlet while I take a shower. I guess that while we hear "you shouldnt leave your coffee machine left on unattended" many of us do so anyway. Believe me, it doesnt have to be a big fire to make a big mess.

This fire was contained to a small area of no more than a square metre. The heat was so intense that a couple of hopper lids that were more than 8 metres away buckled. The entire ceiling needs to be replaced, along with all the electrical wiring and a section of the flooring. Im meeting with the restoration people tomorrow to take inventory and see what can be salvaged.

In the meantime, Im scratching my head to think where I can get a decent cuppacoffee!

              Cheers!

                        Re: Cuppacoffee Grand Opening!

This is absurd. Hopefully your insurance will give you a decent payout and youll be able to get the shop done up nicely. A few years back, my parents had the roof in one room collapse due to possum damage. The assessor that came in actually told them that they were entitled to much more than they had claimed and they ended up with much nicer carpet in that room than when they started!
