Poor Dudley - aging is bad enough without it happening prematurely. Im glad that youre getting things back together though Dennis, and looking forward to trying that coffee.
Thats great news Dennis. Congratulations on getting it all together so quickly (though I bet it hasnt seemed fast enough to you : )
A shopping spree sounds great fun, Im very envious
Best wishes - Carrie
The builders are doing a great job and are likely to be finished all the work by the middle of next week. Then we need to get our contents back and set up. Although unfortunate that many items have been written off, its given us the opportunity to upgrade lots of equipment and fittings. So next week Im going on a shopping spree!
The cleaning process for Dudley began in earnest yesterday and hell be fully operational in about a week. Unfortunately, some of the stainless fascia panels were etched by the soot, and while we wait for the replacements to arrive from Diedrich, he will only retain about 95% of his smart looks.
In the meantime Im just putting the finishing touches on the counter. The Elektra is at the workshop being stripped, cleaned, and modified, while the outer panels are sandblasted and powder coated in the original colours.
We have some extraordinary coffee coming our way for the re-opening, and if I roast it right, you will definitely not want to miss it!
I stopped by yesterday morning to pick up a fresh bag and noticed a sign on the door and an empty shop. I panicked thinking that you were no more but was strangely relieved that a fire was the cause.
Glad everything is OK, sounds a little like a blessing in disguise based on the plans for the rebuild! Dudley looked like he was enjoying a Sunday sleep in
I really like the last aeropress one with the remnants.
dennis, Im glad that things are progressing for you guys and I hope that the re refurb is above expectation and that the re opening and thereafter is a success.
Shannon.

Yippee, some good news today!
The builders are starting this coming Monday and apart from restoring the shop, were installing air-con so therell never be need for a pedestal fan again!
Therell be some new additions to the store too. Our Elektra has arrived safe and sound, and Ive employed my old design and carpentry skills tp build a new counter that I think will be another focal point in the store.
Were already planning something extra special for everyone to enjoy at our Re-Opening, so when the time comes, hope everyone can make it!

Thanks for the offer Di. Everyone has been very gracious, including our insurers. A fresh supply of raw beans are being delivered to my home tomorrow, and all our possessions were removed from the shop by 8.30 last night.
Dudley is looking a bit sad, all alone in the shop and wrapped in plastic.
When we re-open, I can promise that the shop will be even better than before!
Arrrghh, Den, I only just came across this one! Its possibly a little late in the piece but my thoughts are with you.
If I can donate any of my greens (albeit Ive only got about 10kg), let me know and Ill bring them down to you to start building stocks up a bit - Id be more than happy to if it helps out in any way!
Maybe its all a conspiracy and Dudley didnt like the look of that fancy pants black fan...
Best of luck and, I reiterate, let me know if I can do anything to help in any way.

Im glad I wasnt the first one on the scene before that happened, otherwise I would have just opened the door.
Im glad too.
Yep. Good thing you werent and you didnt.
The forensic analysis on the plastic puddle on the floor that was previously a pedestal fan will be clever. As long as its not a stalling tactic (or worse).
