Thats great chris 6 people better than none.
I wouldnt worry about using the alchohol, but there is plenty of other stuff you can use to recognise flavours and smells.

6 people turned up and I made them 2 coffees each and all tried something they dont normally have ie: short black or Syphon or no sugar, seemed like happy campers...........

    Cheers

I would get some tasting samples to compare with your coffee, e.g. some dry red wine, blackberries, blueberries, lemon, caffiene tablets unhopped malt, good kiwi beer, there is plenty[this is optional] and some bittersweet chocolate about 70% cocoa.
Just to get a baseline of what you are tasting. To educate the palate of the people you are expecting.

started a topic Coffee Club at home

    Coffee Club at home

Gidday CS-ers, I have just started a Coffee Club at home on a weekly basis. Meeting #2 tomorrow. Would appreciate any thoughts or ideas you may have. My idea is to teach what I have learnt so far, not just make coffee for everyone and maybe start a bean fund $5 each per week so we can get some COE from BB and give that a shot.
I am going to get everyone to have a go with the Syphon, Aeropress and an old pour over acquired off ebay.

Anyway expecting 8-10 tomorrow so should be great fun.

    Cheers

    Chris
