Re: Barista short courses in Brisbane?
You must be referring to the TAFE course "Prepare and serve espresso coffee" which is a week long. Gold Coast TAFE has one.
But, quite frankly, why would you need a week?

But I do agree... A breath of fresh air with a slight lift in the humidity... Besides... She has to compete with all the testosterone behind the main counter..
How about we check when she is next on and get FLOWERS 8-)

May instructs and imparts many things..... 8-)
One of which, is the fact that you will leave with a greater understanding about coffee and a better understanding and respect for your equipment.. 8-)
Some times she even starts work well before she is due to.. Why... Cause she enjoys coffee, the culture and teh people...

Like the above, not sure about short courses. But from my own experience I would have no hesitation in recommending both Venezianos and Di Bellas 3 hour courses. Experienced, knowledgable people who are passionate about helping you broaden your knowledge of the bean.
That enough of a plug ;-) ;D

Re: Barista short courses in Brisbane?
Bne sorry Im not sure what you mean by short courses being one week? Unaware also of anyone running a course that long, if you have that much time free Id recommend offering yourself to a cafe on an arrangement between the two of you that fits boith your needs of being behind the machine eventually and the cafe owner with some type of incentive e.g your labour. As a warning may be hard finding a cafe that has something to offer a educated snob, shop wisely. ;D
Meanwhile however agree with the rest that if you want the maximum experience perhaps a couple of courses would suit you? Would recommend steering away and not even looking at the "group begininers sessions" you see advertised on google. Di Bella and Veneziano both have skilled staff and Im sure would be happy to help you out on your journey as well. Just make sure they are aware of your experience level and machinery before the session so you can get the most out of it.

Re: Barista short courses in Brisbane?
I have found with courses that they are best done in short stints as you can go away and work on what you have learnt, play with ideas and then go back and do another. This way you are making the most out of the time rather than doing a course for a week and feeling like you know everything. IMHO.
