Now its time to spill the beans about the persuasive argument you put forward to Mrs Squirrel, to allow the order to go through.
Nagging, basically. I also made a personal sacrifice and agreed to sell my XBOX360 gaming console, which reduced the net cost of Miss Silvia by around $400.
What Mrs. Squirrel doesnt realise is that Ive merely replaced a casual hobby with a full blown obsession!

It must also be the worlds messiest grinder, requiring a partial disassembly/vaccuum almost every grind. Oh - and it sounds like a jet engine taking off.
It must be a Sunbeam 0450 in disguise.

    Congrats on the Silvia.

    Great work Squirrel,
I know youll enjoy your time with Ms Silvia and youll be able to keep your caffiene levels up, esp when the bub arrives.
Now its time to spill the beans about the persuasive argument you put forward to Mrs Squirrel, to allow the order to go through ;D.

What brand of grinder is that sitting next to miss Silvia?
An awful one! Its a Saeco MC2002, which Im borrowing from my folks until I feel I can justify the expense of a Rocky (or similar).
Thankfully, the machine seems capable of grinding fine enough, but I wont vouch for the consistency of the grinds. It must also be the worlds messiest grinder, requiring a partial disassembly/vaccuum almost every grind. Oh - and it sounds like a jet engine taking off.
But beggars cant be choosers, I suppose. It was free after all

Mission complete! Picked up Miss Silvia this evening and have been playing with her all night (thank you Mrs. Squirrel!).

The damage was $720 for a 2008 Miss Silvia, with 1kg beans, s/steel tamp and milk jug, and 7g/8g/14g/16g filter baskets thrown in. If this isnt a good deal I dont want to know...

I suppose now I had better get good at this coffee making stuff. So far the results have been wildly variable to say the least!

A caffeinated dad is one who walks the floor rocking the baby to sleep when she is trying to sleep in the very small hours of the morning ! Be sure to point that out to her, when going to see Miss Silvia 8-)

And Im now reduced to plunger coffee - noooooo!
Plunger coffe can be very nice, you just need to have your coffee roasted and ground to match your brewing method.

Over the years i have had sopme very nice plunger coffee.
