Sorry, I really should subscribe to threads I respond to.

I have a VBM DS at home, keeps me caffeinated through the weekends and most weekdays.

you can always tell her my wife came along and enjoyed it, and were not all odd. Apart from TG, Hazchem, Bjeck14, speleomike, identity and maheel.

    oops. no matter.

just tell her that youll be safe but highly caffienated....though if you have a Robur id guess thats nothing different to home!

what machine do you have @ home?

    I pity you.

Count me in with the Robur - enough time to clear it with SWMBO.

I unfortunately wont be there as I am unfortunately going to be sailing the Whitsundays.

All thanks to the in-laws! How unfortunate!

So, after looking over my photos I realise I pretty much took photos of cocao roasting and the nibs being processed - sorry about that but Im on a mission ....  8-)

Anyway I do have a photo of the grinder line up

youd think the person with a tripod would have thought to take a group photo  : :

I also have news on the next event. Put Saturday August 29th in your diary. Venue will be in St Peters, more details to be announced soon!

Thats a pity, but seems like you all had plenty to occupy yourselves with and sounds like it was a great day...and thats whats important.

Yep - the single origins disappeared on thursday morning round about the time the cleaners turned up the good news is that as I was the one who lost them, Ill order the same from dennis to replace those he donated in time for the next meetup. Aaron and I are going to try to commit to organising these on a regular basis - more info soon to follow.

With Aaron making chocolate from scratch using GreenBay cocoa, Di Bartolis decaf under the microscope (alongside a couple of blends), grinder comparison (K10 won, KS was slow but nice grind, everyone preferred the M4 to the Mini (7/7)) there was a lot to talk about - including Mikes "All About Coffee" first edition (beautiful).

Interestingly, the Galatea got the love in preference to the Domobar Super. The K10 WBC Aaron lugged across certainly showed its true colours, producing gloopy pours and flavours the other grinders simply couldnt highlight or match. Mike brought a Trangia + Ibrik and brewed up a fine example of turkish coffee - (apparently you can grind fine enough on a Macap M4, but youll be cleaning it for weeks afterwards!), Ben brought clumping issues on his Mini (and a nylon brush) along with a thick skin and a sense of humour , and the fact that I work just around the corner from Meccas roastery also led to a quick road-trip. Beautiful machines & probat roaster, sample roaster & a smaller one, plus a cupping table, but unfortunately Ive never had the good fortune to go inside.

Was really good to meet mike&TG again, and meet aaron, ben and leeham for the first time - and to put some faces/names to posts!

Was a great meet up and i look forward to the next one

Thanks John for letting us use your machines, next time we will have to find some more machines . Your place of work was a great spot looks like lots of artistic inspiration going on there.

thanks to everyone else bringing grinders, chocolate, books etc etc.
