  • Barista training in Sydney

    Hi All,

I was wondering if there is a barista training in sydney that you would consider "the best"? I know lots of roasting houses offer training as well as many of the major coffee machine suppliers. Is there one that stands out ahead of the rest?

    Thanks in advance!

The answer you get may depend on why you want training.

        Re: Barista training in Sydney

Coffee Snobs sponsor Di Bartoli occasionally run Latte Art courses taught by former World Champion Scottie Callaghan.
I suppose he should be good enough.

        Check out their website.
You can find a link to it from the sponsors list on the left of the screen or click on their name in this post.

I suggest you call one of the Sponsors on the left that specialise in coffee training, rephrase your original question, and put it to them.

          Good luck!

Anyone recommend me a good Barista course in Syd/ACT?

Hi all, as mentioned on the subject title, could anyone recommend a good Barista course to me? I wanna do the course because I want to improve my skills (self-taught), be a good barista, and also get a job as barista. I had a few experiences with commercial machine, but my skill is not up to the professional standard at all.
I live in Canberra, but havent found any course here. I wouldnt mind to travel to Sydney to learn the class but it better to be a really good one :P

                  Re: Barista training in Sydney

Scottie Callaghan and Hazel De Los Reyes both run single day courses at sponsor Di Bartoli, which Ive got a lot out of. You may also want to consider the TAFE barista course which Hazel teaches, not sure which one its at, but its on a monday night. FYI Tobys Estates barista courses are less highly esteemed than they once were, but a home barista course is less likely to get you a barista job than the TAFE one. Having said that, the group sizes are often smaller, youre more likely to get tuition tailored to your needs and ability, and a good home barista will find the TAFE courses a bit below their level, most of the time. Best thing to do is find a friendly cafe and work out what your level is, to start off with, imo.
