From my experience i would say roast profile will also have an impact as well as the type of bean. Dont think it is something that can be calculated and as Marnass said is something you need to test yourself by sampling over time.

    Hi Nico,
I hate to say it, but each bean will have its own optimum consumption date. The best way to determine will be to try the same bean each day for 2 weeks. As a very general rule though between 4 and 14 days the beans will be at their optimum. The blend at work is pretty much always amazing @ 7-9 days either side of this and the beans are very good but wont blow your mind. There can always be outsiders that will suprise you also - i had a harrar that was 3 weeks post roast and was drop dead amazing.

    Aging and degassing after roast

    Hi all,

I would like to hear everyones opinion on aging and degassing beans before use. Some say that 3 to 5 days is optimum, others say 10 to 15 days. Given there are lots of variables, lets stick to poly flexible bags with 1 way valves and a 20c to 25c ambient temp for storage. Love to hear your thoughts!

    Cheers,
    Nico
